Broncos QB Russell Wilson Declares ‘It’s All for His Glory’

Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson glorifies God through his faith and football career.
Wilson played college football for both North Carolina State University and the University of Wisconsin. He began his college career at NC State, where he played from 2008 to 2010. In 2011, he transferred to Wisconsin for his senior year, where he had a standout season.
Wilson was selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft. His selection surprised many because he is shorter than most NFL quarterbacks. However, he quickly proved his abilities on the field.
Wilson’s professional career with the Seattle Seahawks was highly successful. He became the team’s starting quarterback from his rookie season and led the Seahawks to a Super Bowl victory in the 2013 season, where Wilson threw for an impressive 3,357 yards. The Seahawks’ defense, known as the “Legion of Boom,” and Wilson’s strong play contributed to the team’s success.
In 2022, Wilson was traded to the Denver Broncos. Although Wilson has not had the same success as with his previous team, he is making an impact for Christ off the field.
In March, Movieguide® reported that Wilson and his wife Ciara led worship for the prison ministry God Behind Bars:
Russell Wilson also posted about the event, writing, “Lord there’s nothing better than YOU!!! Over 300 Maximum Prison Inmates worshipping Jesus! His Grace and Spirit is overwhelming in the midst of mistakes He still loves and forgives.”
“For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him,” Wilson added, quoting John 3:17.
Despite a loss to the Seahawks in 2022 after joining the Broncos, Wilson continued to glorify God.
“They may cheer for you. They may boo you. They’ll love you one day, and they’ll hate you the next. That’s sports. At the end of the day, I’m going to keep competing. I’m going to keep battling. I know who I am. First of all, I think for me, I’m just grateful God’s given me the chance to play this game,” he said in a post-game interview,
Wilson also shared his appreciation for the Seahawks organization.
“I gave everything I had every day [with the Seahawks]…and God brought me somewhere else,” Wilson stated. “I’m here, I’m in Denver and I’m excited about it. I’m excited where we’re going. I’m just grateful. I give the glory to God because He’s given me the gift of playing this game.”
“It’s all for His glory, and His glory alone,” he added. “It’s not for anybody else’s. I play for an audience of One, and that’s just for Him. And so, I’m just grateful I get to be with these guys in this locker room. I’ve been around some amazing teammates in the past, and I’ve got some amazing teammates currently.”
Following the game, Wilson shared on his X page, “God, I thank you for it all! You are worthy of ALL my Praise!”
