‘But God’: Lakers Trey Jemison Releases Powerful Bible Study

Lakers center Trey Jemison is at it again with another Bible study on his social media page. This one is all about “But God.”

“But God, that’s it. That’s the Bible study,” Jemison began the video. “See, we live in a world where everybody has an opinion. Everybody can speak up, and that’s a blessing. I think, speak your mind, but it comes to a point in time where people will put their fears, their doubts, their insecurities, all to you, and even if they might be correct, if what they are saying is correct about you, I want you to end this sentence with but God. I’ll use myself as an example. When I was 18, I had two knee surgeries, and the doctor was like, ‘It might not be the same ever again.’

“But God–I’m healed from top of my head to the soles of my feet. When I was trying to get into the NBA, they were like, he’s six nine and three quarters, he’s 6 10′, he’s too short to play the five. He probably won’t get a chance to play in the NBA. But God said ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.’

“But God. And even if you don’t know all the scriptures behind it, ‘Hey, Trey, I don’t know all the Bible verses. I don’t know all that. Just say, but God. You see, saying, ‘but God’ is putting your faith in action. My mom tells me before every game, ‘Trey, you go out there, you put your natural with God’s supernatural, and let him work.’ This is you putting your natural with God’s supernatural, you don’t have it all figured out. Nobody does. But when people are going to speak death into you and not speak life into you, I need you to do me this favor and say, ‘but God.’ If they say, ‘Hey, you’re not qualified enough,’ but God, ‘Hey, you’re not tall enough.’ But God. That’s my whole life story. That’s why it is a testimony today because they told me no, after no, after no. But God said he’s gonna make a way.”

Jemison knows that without God in his life, he wouldn’t have made it into the NBA.

That’s why he uses his platform as an avenue to tell others the Good News.

Jemison posted a video of him playing basketball and had Philippians 4:13 written over the video.
