Candace Cameron Bure, Katy Nichole Share How God Moved in Their Lives

In a recent podcast interview with Candace Cameron Bure, Christian singer Katy Nichole shared the story behind her hit song “God Is In This Story.”
“I’ve talked already about the hard parts of life and kind of maybe some of the anger and the bitterness I held inside of me,” Nichole said. “And when it really comes down to this song, I was thinking you know, what’s important about God is that he’s always present, even when we can’t see him. Even when we can’t feel him. He’s always present.”
Nichole share a little about the writing process with co-writers Ethan Hulse and Jeff Pardo.
“And we just sat and we talked about God being in our stories. And I think it was one of the most beautiful writes that I had because…before we ever started writing anything, we were just talking about our lives and talking about the ways that God has shown up for us,” she said.
Bure shared one way she has seen God in her story with Nichole.
“One of the biggest examples in my life is that I can see God’s protection within the entertainment industry that I work in,” Bure said.
“To be honest with you…I’m shocked at some of the stories that I hear from other child actors who are my age or a little bit older and even younger, and the experiences that they have had that have been horrific. Just horrific. And it breaks my heart. It’s awful to hear,” the actress added.
Bure explained how looking back, she can see God’s protection.
“I don’t have a similar story. And I look back at it, and I’ve thought to myself, ‘I haven’t experienced almost like hardly anything that they have experienced,’ and I think of the protection,” Bure said. “I think of, not only…God’s hand overall, but also the protection of my parents and that involvement in my life. But I’m very grateful for it.”
Nichole’s love for God can be felt in her music. Her songs “God Is In This Story” and “In Jesus Name” have both won awards and changed lives.
According to the Gospel Music Association, “Nichole’s debut single, ‘In Jesus Name (God of Possible),’ launched a breakout year that found her nominated for an American Music Award, co-hosting and performing on the GMA Dove Awards Pre-Telecast and realizing her second-straight No. 1 with ‘God Is In This Story.’”

“The second week I had ever come to Nashville, I wrote this song,” Nichole said of the track. “So it was one of…the first few co-writes that I ever did. And I remember wanting to tell my story and wanting to tell it the right way, and I’ve learned over time that there really is no right way to do it, but just to remind people of how important their stories really are.”
For Nichole, “Living Proof” is all about the importance of testimonies and “telling of what God has done in your life [so] others will see the goodness of God.”
