Carlos and Alexa PenaVega’s New Book About ‘Simplicity of Showing God’s Love’

Christian stars Carlos and Alexa PenaVega spoke with Fox News’s Shannon Bream about their new book that explores God’s love and how they and their community reached out to those affected by the Maui wildfires.
“Well, we had our first book come out, “What If Love Is the Point.” But we always tell people that book was literally to get to this book [“Love Is the Point: 100 Days of God’s Love for You and How to Share It with Those Around You”]. This book was our original idea that we really wanted to do, but we had to kind of set it up,” Carlos told Bream on her podcast “Livin’ the Bream.”
Their newest book, “Love Is the Point: 100 Days of God’s Love for You and How to Share It with Those Around You,” was inspired by a Bible study the couple led out of their house and the questions that would come up, especially about serving.
“We would constantly be getting people saying…‘Well, what does it look like to serve…What do I do? How can I help people? I don’t have money, so I don’t know how to show up for people,’” Alexa said. “So when it came time to put this together, we just tried to find as many ways as we could that people could serve outside of just…giving money but really showing up with their time, their effort, their words, all of it.”
Alexa said that the devotional was to help the reader discover how God shows love and how the reader can turn “love into action” by helping others.
“So we were just trying to go ‘Okay, how do we continue to show the simplicity of showing God’s love in this book,’ and that was our goal…was just kind of giving everybody these gentle reminders,” she said.
On the TODAY show, the mother-of-three discussed the timeliness of “Love Is the Point,” saying that society has become self-focused due to social media.
“[T]he more we can help by giving back, the more we can focus on loving other people and serving other people. It’s such a fulfilling life. And I think that’s why people feel this void right now in their lives is because when you’re so inner-focused, you don’t feel complete because that’s not what we were called to do. We were called to serve,” Alexa shared.
The people of Maui were on the actress’ heart as she shared excerpts featuring her responses to questions asked in their devotional.
“Who is it that would benefit from your time this week? Will you learn the name of someone who’s asking for money or food? Will you visit a neighbor who might be lonely? Commit to sharing the gift of your time with one person this week,” one excerpt read on X.
“I will share my time with people from our community in Lahaina and hearing their stories,” Alexa shared as her response.

The Maui fires hit the PenaVegas’ hometown of Lahaina, sparing their home while devastating others around them. Carlos shared how he was overwhelmed by the community’s response as they helped get supplies to those in need.
“I’ve never seen in [a] natural disaster, where people are like,‘We have enough supplies. Please stop bringing it.’ I’ve never seen that in my life. People were just flooding the roads trying to bring stuff, and they were like, ‘Okay, hold on’…it’s such a beautiful thing,” Carlos recalled.
The PenaVegas previously shared how God led them out of Hollywood to bring their family to Hawaii, as Movieguide® reported:
“I felt this tug in my heart. I felt it was God going, ‘You guys need to get out of here. It’s time.’ I didn’t want to move. I knew it was the right decision, but it wasn’t something that I was so excited about.”
She continued, “You would think Hawaii is so exciting. But I loved LA. I loved my career and I didn’t want to go. At the time, I felt like we were moving for Carlos. But one day I was praying in my car and I suddenly had this revelation. I felt like God was preparing us for this move. And we weren’t moving for Carlos. We were moving for my heart. It stopped me in my tracks because all that time, I thought we were just moving for Carlos. But I needed a heart reset. I was the one trapped in the entertainment world and needed to take a step back. My job became my identity. God pulled me out of that so I could learn how to be an awesome mom and an awesome wife. God helped us build that foundation in our family. And once I had that revelation, I felt at peace.”
