Carlson Brothers Share Field and Faith to Make NFL History

On Monday night, the Raiders defeated the Green Bay Packers, but for the Carlson brothers, they both won.
Rookie Anders Carlton is the placekicker for the Packers, and his brother, Daniel Carlson, is a six-year returner and a two-time All-Pro placekicker for the Raiders.
The brothers kicked against each other in the game, marking the first time that’s happened in 36 years.
Before the game, Anders told ESPN, “To compete all our lives and finally play in a game where we’re actually wearing jerseys and competing against each other, it’s going to be awesome.”
Both brothers hold their faith in high esteem.
After, Anders shared a photo of him and his brother on the field. The placekicker wrote, “Who woulda thought… Psalm 9:1”
Psalm 9:1 reads, “I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.”
Daniel’s Instagram bio includes Proverbs 3:5-6, which says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
Additionally, Daniel posted on his X page, “God, give us the grace to accept with serenity the things that cannot be changed, the courage to change the things which should be changed, and the wisdom to distinguish the one from the other…”

In 2018, Daniel told The Colorado Gazette, “It is such a cool, surreal experience to look back on all that God has given me. Playing is my form of worship. It is how I glorify him. And all of this is so much better than I ever expected.”
However, football wasn’t Daniel’s first sport. Originally, he played soccer but felt God call him to football.
“Playing soccer was what I had always dreamed of,” he said. “But by my junior year (at TCA), I had fallen in love with football. God had the better plan.”
“Time and time again, I think I’m fine pursuing my own plans,” Daniel added. “But then everything completely changes, and I see that God’s plan is so much better than anything I could have ever dreamed up.”
“Daniel was a fifth-round pick by the Minnesota Vikings in 2018, and while he was busy building a career in the NFL, Anders took over for him at Auburn. Now Anders, a sixth-round pick this year by the Packers, is proving himself to be a worthy replacement for longtime Packers kicker Mason Crosby,” Sports Spectrum reported.
