Singer Reveals How Faith Helps Her Conquer Fear

Carnie Wilson believes in the power of prayer. In an interview with Woman’s World, the singer and songwriter shared how she prays to work through difficulties in her life.
“I’m on my knees a lot praying. I have a very strong connection…and I try to just surrender how I’m feeling,” she revealed. She called faith her “survival” last year.
Wilson understands the importance of getting to the root of things. For her, fear seems the be the culprit that steals her joy, but she conquers it by giving it to God in prayer.
“I remind myself that there’s a beginning and a middle and an end and that feelings are not facts,” Wilson said. “If I’m feeling down about something, I try to get to the core of what it is. It usually comes down to fear. Fear of disappointing someone or a resentment or something. If it’s a resentment, I try to pray for the person. If it’s a fear, I try to give it to God so the fear is taken from me and it’s out of my hands. Being very spiritual helps me.”
While she’s experienced hardship, Wilson’s focus stays on Jesus.
“I’m always thankful that God graced me with another day. I say, ‘Thank You, Lord [and I’m ready to] go attack the day. It’s an attitude,” she said last year.
Wilson is the daughter of Beach Boys member Brian Wilson and the Honeys member Marilyn Rovell.
“And although music has always been her first love, the versatile entertainer has hosted her own cooking show and is currently featured each week on Sirius/XM radio on Jeff Lewis Extended,” Woman’s World reported. “She also still tours with Wilson Phillips—the iconic pop trio of Carnie, her sister Wendy and longtime friend Chynna Phillips, known for such hits as ‘Hold On,’ ‘Release Me’ and ‘You’re in Love.’”
The singer has been open about her family struggles and how her faith in God carried her through.
“I came from a dysfunctional family in the rock and roll world, and there was so much that was so crazy and erratic,” she told Fox News. “My dad did the best he could and gave us this beautiful, beautiful legacy. But my mom was so young when she had me and my sister. And so, music is the one steady common denominator, nucleus of our lives…The faith in my life, my higher power — I’m still sober all these years and it’s wonderful,” she explained. “The priorities are family and time goes by so fast. So you just have to make the best of every single day and stay positive and keep your family and your friends close.”
