Casting Crowns is celebrating 20 years of sharing the good news of Jesus through music with a new album, a tour and a documentary.
To commemorate the milestone, the band released a special edition legacy album titled “Lifesong: A Celebration of the First 20 Years.”
The new album includes 21 songs with 20 guest artists. It features hits such as “Voice of Truth,” “Nobody,” “Praise You In This Storm” and more.
The band announced the new album on Instagram and wrote, “20 YEARS!! We are so excited for you to hear these special reimagined versions of our songs from our dear friends. Go listen now wherever you stream music!”
Fellow artist Phil Wickham shared his version of “Praise You In This Storm.”
“What an honor to be invited into this project by @castingcrownsofficial to dream up and sing on a new arrangement of their incredible song “PRAISE YOU IN THIS STORM.” What an amazing song!! Thanks to the Casting Crowns team for trusting my producer @smith_jon and I with this one. This song has impacted millions of people over the years, and we hope we gave it the passion and heart it deserved,” he wrote.
The band will also celebrate their 20 years with the “Casting Crowns’ 20th Anniversary Tour: A Live Symphony Experience.”
The tour began last week and “will make stops in cities across the country including Boston, Baltimore, Indianapolis, Cleveland, Tulsa, Austin, San Antonio, San Diego and Tucson, among others. On this 20-city tour, Casting Crowns will be joined on tour by a live orchestra for this one-of-it’s-kind concert experience.”
Their upcoming documentary CASTING CROWNS: HOME BY SUNDAY, slated for a November 30 release, “shares the remarkable stories behind the band’s journey, music and ministry.”
“From their unique beginnings to the inspiration behind one of their most beloved songs and a near-life-ending diagnosis, HOME BY SUNDAY gives a behind-the-scenes look into the mission and mindset that has driven Casting Crowns for the last two decades,” a synopsis of the documentary reads.
Movieguide® previously reported on Casting Crowns:
Christian band Casting Crowns recently encouraged listeners to be bold for Christ, despite a culture that may cancel them for their beliefs.
In the Grammy Award-winning band’s newest track, “Crazy People,” songwriter Mark Hall said that the title is in reference to how the secular world sees Christians.
“We follow a God we’ve never seen. We pray to God we’ve never heard. And on faith, we put all the weight of our life in this God that we’ve never seen, that we know is real,” Hall said in a recent YouTube video. “Let me just tell you, that looks a little crazy to the world…”
Hall said that Hebrews 11 inspired the song.
“I think all the people that we would consider heroes in the Bible, the things that they would do, the steps that they would take to follow a guy that they’ve never seen,” he said. “The world sees that as crazy and I say, this world could use some more crazy!
