CBS announced its holiday specials line-up, and it includes everything from Christmas classics to high-energy concerts.
The first special is the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, which will air from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. on Nov. 23.
Deadline reported, “In addition to Cher, who recently released ‘Christmas,’ her first holiday album ever, Batiste and the Broadway productions, the Thanksgiving event will include appearances and performances by, among others, Bell Biv DeVoe; Brandy; En Vogue; David Foster and Katharine McPhee; Drew Holcomb and The Neighbors; Jessie James Decker; U.S. Paralympic Gold Medalist Jessica Long; Ashley Park with the cast and Muppets of Sesame Street; Pentatonix; and, of course, the Radio City Rockettes.”
On Friday, Nov. 24, THE GREATEST @HOME VIDEOS will air from 8-9 p.m.
CBS will show Christmas classic RUDOLPH THE RED NOSE REINDEER from 8-9 p.m. on Nov. 27.
“This favorite is a music story based on the popular song of the same name by Johnny Marks. It recounts the tale of a shy reindeer whose Christmas spirit is dampened because his shiny nose has made him the laughingstock of all of Christmasville,” WTVR CBS 6 reported.
On Friday, Dec. 15, the network will host the NATIONAL CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING from 8-9 p.m.
“Light up the holidays with this beloved American tradition presented by the National Park Service and National Park Foundation,” TVInsider reported. “Tune in to celebrate the official tree lighting on the Ellipse in President’s Park in Washington, D.C., and experience an all-star lineup of musical performances with the whole family from the comfort of your home.”
RUDOLPH THE RED NOSE REINDEER will air again on Dec. 16 from 8-9 p.m., followed by FROSTY THE SNOWMAN from 9-9:30 p.m. and FROSTY RETURNS from 9:30-10 p.m.
On Dec. 22 from 8-9 p.m., the 25th ANNUAL A HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS will air. The special “features uplifting stories of adoption from foster care and raises awareness of this important social issue.”
WHEN CHRISTMAS WAS YOUNG follows “A headstrong music manager in desperate need of a hit song finds himself falling for a singer-songwriter with abandoned dreams of making it big.” It will air Sunday, Dec. 24 from 9-11 p.m.
A two-hour concert featuring Mariah Carey will air on Christmas Day from 9-11 p.m.
The network’s holiday lineup will conclude with NEW YEAR’S EVE LIVE: NASHVILLE’S BIG BASH on Dec. 31 from 7:30-10 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.-1 a.m. The special will feature performances from Thomas Rhett, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Lainey Wilson and more.
