Celebrate Nostalgia in New Christmas Movie

Right as they wrapped the UPtv project A CHRISTMAS MOVIE CHRISTMAS, Brant Daugherty made his on-screen love his real-world bride.
Brant and Kimberly Daugherty spoke with Movieguide® ahead of the movie’s release on Oct. 27.
Much of the movie-making process has mirrored their own love story. Brant asked Kimberly to marry him in 2018 right after they wrote the script. Then, they starred in the project, which wrapped shortly before their June 2019 wedding.
The couple told Movieguide® that they wanted to pay homage to Christmas movies as a genre.
“We tried to think of what we could do in the realm of a Christmas movie that celebrates Christmas movies while still being a Christmas movie, but giving you something new at the same time,” Brant said.
The movie follows Eve and her sister Lacy (played by Kimberly). The sisters are transported inside a Christmas movie where they’re the stars. The audience follows their journey of self-discovery while trying get back to reality.
While Kimberly’s character may be a Scrooge, she is far from saying, “Bah humbug” in reality.
“I love anything Christmas holiday oriented, so Lacy is not me!”
The Daugherty’s aspirations for A CHRISTMAS MOVIE CHRISTMAS line up with Movieguide’s® heart for family-friendly entertainment.
“I want this film to be one that everyone can enjoy,” Kimberly said. “I think it’s fun to be able to bring everyone together around the holidays and see a film where you can connect to someone within it.”
The full review will be available on Movieguide® on Oct. 25.
