Dylan Novak, best known by his Facebook name The Celebrity Evangelist, never turns down an opportunity to share the gospel.
While Novak normally speaks with celebrities by himself, he recently talked with Rick Hurst, who stars as Cletus in THE DUKES OF HAZZARD, with a student from his church youth group.
“I’ve met Mr. Hurst several times over the years, and he has always been receptive of whatever I had for him,” Novak wrote on Facebook.
“Last week, I was traveling back from Xtreme Winter Conference with my youth group, and we stopped to get a photo with Mr. Hurst,” he explained. “The last night of the conference, Greg Stier from Dare 2 Share Ministries had shared what inspired his ministry. When Greg was growing up, someone had dared a pastor in his community to share the Gospel with his rigid biker uncle. The result of that dare was Greg’s uncle accepting Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior, and starting a revival domino effect.”
Novak decided to extend the same challenge to the children in his youth group.
“As we waited to get our photo with Mr. Hurst, I told my youth students, ‘I have shared the Gospel with Mr. Hurst many times. I think it might make a bigger impact today if one of you took the initiative to share Jesus with him. Just like in last night’s sermon, I am daring one of you to give this Gospel gift to him, and I’ll be there to help you,’” he said. “I’m very proud, and thankful, that one of my students immediately said, ‘I will! I want to see Cletus in Heaven one day.’”
“This was a great way to end the 2022 ministry year,” Novak concluded the post. “Please be praying for Mr. Hurst.”
