Charisma Magazine Celebrates 40 Years

Charisma Magazine Celebrates 40 Years

In 1975, Steve Strang and his wife Joy took a leap of faith and founded Charisma Magazine, a publication spurred by the charismatic movement to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

As a trusted source for news, insight and teaching, Charisma helped lay a foundation for Christians in the media, as well as giving millions of believers an alternative home for staying informed on current affairs. Reaching a circulation of 275,000 in 2009, the magazine was only the beginning of their journey as it became a standard in Christian media across all denominations, from multiple magazines, to websites and podcasts.

In 2005, TIME named Charisma’s founder Steve Strang one of “The Most Influential Evangelicals in America.” Strang’s influence led him to interview three U.S. presidents and allowed him to speak at the United Nations.

All accomplishments aside, Strang is quick to remind his readers that it’s not about him.

As he wrote in a recent article celebrating Charisma’s 40th year, “It’s about the vision and serving the body of Christ.”

Long time friend of Steve Strang and Movieguide® founder Ted Baehr congratulated Charisma on their 40 years of service stating:

“Charisma has been one of my favorite magazines since they put me on the cover in 1991. All kidding aside, Steve is one of my favorite ministry leaders who has a powerful mission from God. I’m his biggest fan. I appreciate the gifts God has given him in the service of the Lord.”

Congratulations to Charisma from the staff at Movieguide®.
