Chip and Joanna Gaines Shock Fan With Unbelievable Gift: ‘Life-Changing’
By Movieguide® Contributor
FIXER UPPER stars Chip and Joanna Gaines celebrated Magnolia’s 20th anniversary by teaming up with TikTok star Zachery Dereniowski, also known as MDMotivator, to give back to those who have helped them along the way.
A video shared on MDMotivator’s Instagram shows Dereniowski asking people at the Gaines’ Silobration if they’d like to buy one of Joanna’s cookbooks and a “mystery” for $1. After several turn the offer down, Dereniowski finds a man named Mark, who buys the book because he and his wife are huge fans of the Gaines’.
When asked what he would say to Joanna, Mark said, “I’d tell her she’s like part of the family. We watch her all weekend. We’re from Hawaii,” adding that his dream is to “meet” the couple.
After receiving the cookbook, Dereniowski reveals the “mystery.”
“The first person who was going to buy the mystery cookbook for $1 buck, I had $1000 cash,” Dereniowski said as he gave Mark the money.
Mark is astonished as the TikToker adds that he will meet the FIXER UPPER couple that evening.
That evening, Chip and Joanna ask Mark, “We were wondering if something like $10,000 would possibly change your life?”
However, Chip crossed out the $10,000 and wrote $25,000. Mark and his wife were shocked.
“$25,000 is truly life-changing,” Mark said as he hugged Chip and Joanna. “I love you both so much. I’ll do my best to pay it forward.”
MDMotivator commented on the video, “Thank you @chipgaines @joannagaines @magnolia for making this incredible moment happen for Mark and his beautiful family. You truly changed his life and brought so much unconditional love and kindness to Silobration this past weekend.”
“Here’s to 20 years of Magnolia,” Joanna posted on Instagram. “Back in 2003, we could have never dreamed of any of this. Grateful for the wonderful memories, the mistakes and mishaps, and all the miracles along the way. Thank you for being a part of this journey with us.”
Movieguide® previously reported on the Gaines’ newest project:
FIXER UPPER’s Chip and Joanna Gaines faced their most ambitious restoration ever when they took on an entire boutique hotel in downtown Waco, Texas.
“[This is] the largest, most complicated size project we’re ever done in our whole career,” Chip said, explaining that the goal was to “bring this building back to its former glory.”
Beyond the massive scope of the project, the couple also had to face the pressure of working on a building that is listed on the National Registry of Historical Places.
“If anybody can turn this place into the masterpiece that it deserves, it’s Joanna Gaines,” Chip said in a trailer for FIXER UPPER: THE HOTEL.
