Chonda Pierce’s ROLL WITH IT Acquired by Shout! Studios

Shout! Studios has acquired the distribution rights to Christian comedian Chonda Pierce’s latest project, ROLL WITH IT.

“We are thrilled for this terrific opportunity to bring this inspiring comedy movie across multiple entertainment platforms,” Shout!’s executive vice president Melissa Boag said in a statement. “ROLL WITH IT, led by the multitalented and pitch-perfect Chonda Pierce, will surely have audiences laughing and grooving to the beat! We look forward to presenting this movie to fans and families through home entertainment soon.”

A synopsis of ROLL WITH IT reads:

If laughter is the best medicine, Chonda’s character Bonnie Taylor could use an extra dose or two. Not only is she dealing with an unexpected demotion at her job at the Biscuit Barrel and a young new boss willing to match her snark-for-snark, she also discovers her house will be on the auction block by month’s end if she can’t come up with $20,000 in back taxes. With her only hope being the grand prize in a karaoke contest, and with the support of her faith, family, and friends that are family, Bonnie must decide if she’s willing to sing for the first time without her late husband by her side to save the home they raised their family in.

ROLL WITH IT is a very personal project for Pierce. She worked on the movie with her late husband, David, who passed away in 2014.

“When David, my late husband, and I thought through this script and its themes, I wanted to share the challenges I’ve had as a woman, a single mom, a woman ‘of a certain age’ in the workforce competing with a new generation of job market competition, changing technology, and… the dreaded dating pool,” the comedian told CCM Magazine.

She continued, “I wanted the story to be relatable because I feel like my audiences — thousands of women I’ve performed for over the last 25+ years — all struggle with the same things. I want them all to watch this and feel seen and heard, and to know it’s all going to be okay. You will survive.”

Comedian Chonda Pierce is finally taking center stage in her latest movie ROLL WITH IT.

Pierce is known as the “Queen of Clean Comedy,” and has made a name for herself in movies like ALL SAINTS and SELFIE DAD.

Her latest movie, the story of a widow working to stay afloat financially, is the first time Pierce has scored a leading role. In addition to that, the comedian has a very personal connection to ROLL WITH IT’s story.

“It’s kind of the last story idea my husband and I worked on before he passed,” Pierce shared. “It sat on my desk for a long, long time. I think I was in the middle of doing a Hallmark movie and one of the directors said, ‘Have you ever done a movie around your persona?’ And I said, ‘Well, as a matter of fact I have.’”

“I pray that people will understand the power of prayer, and how God answers prayer in ways we don’t see Him coming,” Pierce said of her hope for the movie’s impact. “That’s what’s so sweet about this story. The widow, she goes into her prayer closet a lot. And she’s praying, and she’s getting desperate, and she’s getting hurt, because it doesn’t look like God’s coming through. And of course, He does it in a way that she totally didn’t see coming. It has very little to do with karaoke. It has everything to do with his plan. And I love that.”
