THOR star Chris Hemsworth is in talks to star in a new toy-inspired movie.
The upcoming movie will be a crossover film of Hasbro’s iconic ’80s G.I. Joe and Transformers toys.
Deadline reported, “Upon finalizing the deal, this will put the Melrose Ave. lot back in business with Hemsworth who is already starring in Paramount Animation/Hasbro’s TRANSFORMERS ONE which hits theaters on Sept. 20, 2024. That movie was one of the highest-testing Paramount Animation titles ever.”
TRANSFORMERS: RISE OF THE BEASTS hinted at the upcoming crossover. Variety reported, “Anthony Ramos’ character Noah meets a shady government operative named Agent Burke, played HOUSE OF CARDS star Michael Kelly. He hands Noah a business card, after saving the world with the Autobots, and it’s revealed Burke works for the G.I. Joes, a special team of commandos.”
The film was a box office hit last summer, making $439 million, surpassing other summer films including INDIANA JONES AND THE DIAL OF DESTINY.
This movie will be the latest iteration of the toy-based movie craze.
