Chris Pratt Recalls Meeting Wife Katherine Schwarzenegger at Church During Time of Brokenness

By Movieguide® Contributor

Chris Pratt recently shared how he was at a low point in his life before God brought him together with his wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger, at a place of worship.

“I met Katherine, now it’s been. Five, maybe six years ago, and God has a fast-forward button. When it’s right – boom,” Pratt said. “You get hit. You fall in love, you get married. Now we have two beautiful daughters to add to my family, and it feels really great.”

Pratt first met Katherine at church in the spring of 2018.

“You kind of don’t want to be like, ‘Whoa, who’s that?’ at church,” he said. “But I was kind of sneaking some glances, and I’m wondering, ‘Who is that? Anyway, what am I doing? Come on, I’m broken; help me. But who’s that?’ So we kind of hit it off. We didn’t start dating right away, but we met there and then later on, ended up going out.”

Pratt had been coming out of an eight-year marriage with actress Anna Farris ending with a divorce in 2017. They share custody of their 10-year-old son Jack.

“[That] was a moment in my life that I was really struggling and felt really broken,” Pratt said.

It was during that brokenness that he met Katherine.

“For me, my own journey of finding a higher power and leaning on that feeling like, ‘Please save me,’ and then feeling saved… and then shortly, later meeting, you know, the woman of my dreams and being like, ‘this is, wow, this feels great,’” he said.

“It’s all about timing. There’s a perfect plan out there for you, and I think you just gotta have to have faith,” he later added.

Pratt and Katherine dated just under a year before announcing their engagement in January 2019, they were then married in June of that year. The couple has since had two daughters together, Lyla, 2, and Eloise, 8 months.

Movieguide® previously reported on Pratt’s faith:

The Avengers stick together – no matter what.

When the Internet viciously attacked Chris Pratt over the last few days, dubbing him the “worst Chris” because of his conservative values and faith, Robert Downey Jr. and Mark Ruffalo refused to stay silent.

“What a world. . . The ‘sinless’ are casting stones at my brother, Chris Pratt. . . A real Christian who lives by principle, has never demonstrated anything but positivity and gratitude,” Downey posted to Instagram.

Ruffalo tweeted, “You all, @prattprattpratt is as solid a man there is. I know him personally, and instead of casting aspersions, look at how he lives his life.”

Pratt, Downey and Ruffalo star as Star Lord, Iron Man and the Hulk in the Avengers franchise.

Social media attacks began when producer/writer Amy Berg posted a picture of Pratt, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans and Chris Pine, writing, “one of them has to go.”

The Internet immediately — and viciously — demanded Pratt be eliminated due to his biblical beliefs about same-sex marriage and alleged support for President Donald Trump.

Berg regularly posts pictures of four items/people with the caption, “one of them has to go.” Even when she posted four pictures of candy and asked which one needed to be eliminated, people still called for Pratt’s removal.

The commentary was so bad that Berg herself begged social media users to stop harassing Pratt.

Pratt has not publicly responded to the comments.

What’s notable, however, is that Pratt’s personal life shines with the light of the Gospel, as evidenced by his colleagues who hold different beliefs coming to his defense.

Pratt recently welcomed a baby girl with his wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger.

He regularly discusses God and Scripture on his social media channels.

Let’s continue to pray for Pratt and that He will share the Gospel with those around him.
