Chrissy Metz Shares Heart Behind New Album, Children’s Book at 2023 Movieguide® Awards
By Movieguide® Contributor
While on the red carpet before this year’s Movieguide® Awards, THIS IS US star Chrissy Metz talked about the power of prayer in children’s lives and the heart behind her new album and book.
“[Prayer] really got me through the most difficult times of my life,” Metz said. “So we were like, ‘how do we impart that on young minds and hearts?’ because it was so instrumental for us and our upbringing…[that was] the impetus to start it.”
Metz wrote her new album, Prayed For This Day, with her boyfriend, Bradley Collins, in tandem with a children’s book When I Talk To God, I Talk About You. Both pieces convey the power of prayer, which is independent of who you are or where you are physically praying.
“I think that [Christians] sort of think about prayers, like, we have to be in a church, and we have to do it only at night, and I’m like, I pray all the time, all day, every day,” Metz said.
“There’s no special spot anywhere, you know, at any given time. So that’s a very important throughline, through the book, and through the [album],” she explained.
Metz hopes to inspire young Christians in their ability to make a big impact in others’ lives despite their youth.
