Among a wave of celebrities expressing sadness and anger over the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, actress Kimberly Elise stood against the tide and expressed her joy for the court’s decision.
“Millions of babies will be saved from death by abortion due to the overturning of Roe V. Wade,” Elise wrote on her Instagram.
On her post Elise posted a picture of a baby with the scripture Psalm 139:13-14, which reads: “For You formed my inward parts. You knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.”
Elise’s post triggered many hateful responses, The Daily Wire reported, with many referring to DIARY OF A MAD BLACK WOMAN’s character Charles, who is abusive toward’s Elise’s character in the movie, Helen.
“Charles is now my favorite,” one person responded.
“And this is why Charles dragged you outside!!!” another wrote.
One post was even more personal, “Make sure she never works again. LOL. Back to the cleaning business!!”
Some on both sides of the issue were more supportive: “Welp…opinions are like belly buttons. Everyone has one,” the user continued. “BTW, I think @iKimberlyElise is a brilliant actress. I just don’t share her opinion. That’s it. That’s all.”
Welp…opinions are like belly buttons. Everyone has one. However, someone's opinion should govern anyone else's life. BTW, I think @iKimberlyElise is a brilliant actress. I just don't share her opinion. That's it. That's all.

Black Florida Congressional candidate Lavern Spicer wrote: “Kimberly Elise is being attacked because she is a Black woman who is pro-life. To the libs, we’re nothing but ‘n******’ if we aren’t liberals. I was never called that word my entire life until I ran as a Republican. Now it’s a daily thing. Kimberly, don’t bend & stay strong!”
THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE actress has been very vocal about her Christian faith and often shares Bible verses on Instagram. Elise recently posted the verse from Jude 24-25: “Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy. To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.”
Movieguide® previously reported on her return to her faith in 2019:
“After I was baptized at 16, I, like many #Christian teens, wandered back into the world. But the Holy Spirit never left me,” the four-time NAACP Image Awards winner said. “Though I didn’t always make the best choices over all these years, the Holy Spirit kept a hedge of protection around me to keep me from falling too, too far astray.”
“And God continuously blessed me greatly in spite of my errors (He will achieve His purpose no matter what!)” Elise added. “In 2019, YHWH said enough wandering daughter time to come home, and Jesus rescued me.”
In 2019, Elise said that she submitted her life over to Christ and has not looked back.
“Since that time, the Holy Spirit has done a fast and deep work on me — I had a lot of catching up to do!” Elise said.
