Christian Band Anthem Lights Launches New ‘Safe and Wholesome’ Animated Series
By Movieguide® Staff
Christian band Anthem Lights recently premiered the first episode of their new animated series, A SHOW ABOUT ANTHEM LIGHTS, on the streaming service Pure Flix.
“Get ready to laugh and sing with the new animated series ‘A Show About Anthem Lights,’ premiering exclusively on Pure Flix on January 12, 2022,” the show’s description reads. “The series will feature animated versions of the Anthem Lights band members, Spencer Kane, Joey Stamper, Caleb Grimm and Chad Graham. Join the guys as they go about everyday activities navigating the ups and downs of life in a boyband … all while singing about it!”
Vocalists Kane and Grimm sat down with Movieguide® to discuss their first animated production and how faith continues to lead the way for Anthem Lights.
Grimm said that the band’s name is inspired by Matthew 5, which emphasizes the biblical call of reaching people with the Gospel.
“Matthew 5 calls us the light of the world, so we were passionate about working that idea into the name,” Grimm told Movieguide®.
The men are also passionate about incorporating their faith into every aspect of their lives.
“We’ve always strived to see it more like we’re men of faith, who are in a band, not the other way around,” Grimm explained. “So we look at that as like we are on our own faith journeys together, and we’re working that out in real time and will continue to, and music is just something that we’re doing together and it will of course, spill out into that because how could it not?
“It’s the same with the show,” Grimm added. “We’re trying to make, much like our music, wholesome, quality content that is safe for anybody to listen to. I’ve got three kids, so I love the idea of a Pure Flix type platform where I could just put it on and it’s safe. I’ll turn YouTube on for them, like even YouTube kids and sometimes an ad will pop up and I’m like, ‘I don’t really love that, you’re three, I don’t know that you should really see that.’ Personally I am passionate about creating content that is safe and just wholesome for everybody.”
While A SHOW ABOUT ANTHEM LIGHTS is comedic, it does not compromise quality or integrity, according to Kane and Grimm.
“The mainstream space is a large, oversaturated space with so much content and shows and music and movies, but we just wanted to do something different, something a little fun,” Spencer said. “We’ve never done anything like this before. So hopefully people enjoy it as much as we’ve had making it.”
