Christian Country Star Lauren Alaina Honors Late Stepfather on DANCING WITH THE STARS

Christian country music star Lauren Alaina honored her late stepfather, Sam, on DANCING WITH THE STARS.
Her performance fell on the one-year anniversary of his death from cancer.
Alaina shared via Instagram, “I know the strength to get through this performance came straight from the Lord and my stepdad Sam. This dance wasn’t just for my family, but it was for all families who have lost someone they love. Last night was the most healing moment of my life. I have never been more proud of myself. What a true gift God gave me to share Sam’s story.”
Alaina and her partner Gleb Savchenko, performed a contemporary routine to her song, “On the Other Side.”
The song was birthed from one of Alaina’s last interactions with Sam where he talked about Heaven.
“He was a light in this world and will live on forever through this dance and my new song, The Other Side. I will never be able to express the gratitude I have for @glebsavchenkoofficial and @dancingabc for letting me share my stepdad’s beautiful life and story. He is in a better place watching over my family. Life is short, and tomorrow isn’t promised. We have to live a life we are proud of. We have to love hard and trust in God’s plan for us.”
Some of the lyrics read, “Don’t you cry for me ’cause I’m in God’s glory / And, I can see his face, it’s amazing / I know you have doubts but I see it right now / I promise it’s real, keep praying / I’ll be waiting, take your time / And go write a story / That you can’t wait to tell me / On the other side.”
After the performance concluded, Alaina rushed over to her mother, who was in the audience and hugged her while receiving a standing ovation from the audience.
The judges called her “brave” in response.
Alaina is dating Christian comedian John Crist.
