Houston Texans quarterback CJ Stroud wore a “Jesus Loves You” shirt while attending the first NBA playoff game between the Golden State Warriors and the Houston Rockets.
“Texans QB CJ Stroud wore a ‘Jesus Loves You’ shirt to Game 1 of the Warriors vs Rockets playoff series,” an X post from media personality Jon Root read.
The end of Root’s post also included the Bible verse Romans 5:8: “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Stroud is no stranger to publicly sharing his faith. In nearly all of his post-game press conferences or on-field interviews, the quarterback always thanks his “Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”
Stroud’s boldness with his faith has caused other players to take notice and even thank him.
“I’ve had a lot of great people who have reached out, and even guys after games, who just talk about how I mention God and Christ,” Stroud said in a press conference. “I always tell people that it’s not me, it’s him. There’s nothing I can do to ever repay what the Lord has done in my life, and I don’t want to, I just want to act in what he’s calling me to do.”
Texans defensive end Will Anderson Jr. also spoke about the team culture and how important it is to show support for one another.

“Players can get wrapped up in wanting approval, and I don’t think it’s wanting approval,” Anderson revealed. “I think it’s wanting love and wanting to be shown the same love as everybody else. That’s one of the biggest things us rookies talk about. Let’s show love. Let’s have energy. Whoever we walk by, whether it’s a nutritionist, custodian, security guard. How can we make them feel loved by coming and working for the Texans, this stadium, everything? That’s how you change a culture. That’s how you get everybody wanting to be a part of something special.”
For Stroud, changing the culture by talking about Jesus isn’t about popularity or attention. It’s because “that’s what God called me to do.”
C.J. Stroud says several players around the NFL have reached out to express how much they appreciate his mentions of God and expressing his love for Jesus Christ.
