Clean Comedian Nate Bargatze to Host SNL: ‘A Dream Come True’
By Movieguide® Contributor
Clean comedian Nate Bargatze is set to make his Saturday Night Live debut later this month, appearing alongside musical guest Foo Fighters.
“Beyond a dream come true. Thank you!!!!” Bargatze wrote on Instagram in a post following the announcement.
“It’s insane. It’s truly insane,” he added in a video. “I cannot believe it…I can’t believe I got asked…it’s pretty wild.”
While Bargatze is a popular comedy act, his fame does not match that of most SNL guests. However, with the ongoing actors strike, the show has to look beyond its traditional A-list actors to fill the hosting slot.
The comedian will host the show on October 28.
This incredible announcement seems only par for the course for Bargatze, who has had an incredible couple of years, shooting to the top of comedy as a family-friendly comedian.
“I don’t want to disappoint my parents,” Bargatze said previously, explaining why he keeps his routines clean. He added that he would feel “mortified” and “very uncomfortable” using inappropriate material in front of them, as Movieguide® previously reported.
His focus on material that anyone can enjoy has earned him two Netflix specials—THE TENNESSEE KID and THE GREATEST AVERAGE AMERICAN—and his Prime Video special NATE BARGATZE: HELLO WORLD.
He recently broke Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena attendance record, a record he plans to keep after taking a chair from the venue.
“I was just trying to secure my spot in history,” Bargatze joked. “You don’t get a lot of chances like that as a comic because the music acts are so big. So I was like, ‘Maybe I’ll just take a chair,’ and I did. As long as they don’t throw another chair in there, I should be good.”
He is now working to elevate other family-friendly comedians through his recently launched production company, The Nateland Company.
Movieguide® previously reported:
Nate Bargatze is growing his comedy empire as he launches The Nateland Company, a production company that highlights up-and-coming comics following in his family-friendly footsteps.
“The Nateland Company is committed to producing high-quality content that inspires and entertains while upholding values of respect, kindness, and inclusivity. With a focus on laughter, heartwarming stories, and relatable characters, we aim to foster meaningful connections and provide positive experiences that families can enjoy together,” Bargatze said.
The company’s debut project, THE SHOWCASE, highlights smaller comics rising through the entertainment ranks. The show’s roster includes Mandal, Donnie Sengstack, Mr. Derick, Jim Flannigan, Renard Hirsch, Alex Velluto, Mal Hall, Jen Fulwiler and Luca Ferro.
