Nate Bargatze, everyone’s favorite clean comedian, is taking his entertainment to new mediums with his new book Big Dumb Eyes.

“I’m so excited to tell you that I’m writing my first book!,” the comic announced on social media Oct. 4. “Big Dumb Eyes will be an ‘easy read’ of a collection of personal stories, opinions and confessions that the whole family can enjoy.”

His book is a collection of humorous stories from his life.

Part of the book’s description reads:

Nate Bargatze used to be a genius. That is, until the summer after seventh grade when he slipped, fell off a cliff, hit his head on a rock, and ‘my brain got, like, dented or something.’ Before this accident, he dreamed of being ‘an electric engineer, or a brain doctor, or maybe a math person who does like, math things for a living.’

Afterwards, a voice in his head told him, ‘It’s okay. You’re dumb now. All you got is standup.’* But the ‘math things’ industry’s loss is our gain because Nate went on to become one of today’s top‑grossing comedians who breaks both attendance and streaming records.

Big Dumb Eyes releases on May 6, 2025, and is available to pre-order. Signed copies will be available through Barnes & Noble.

Bargatze hosted SNL last Saturday, where he took on the role of George Washington developing the English language.

“I dream that one day our great nation will have a word for the number 12. We shall call it a dozen,” Washington said. When asked if other numbers will also have additional words to identify them, he joked, “None. Only 12 shall have its own word, because we are freemen. And we will be free to spell some words two different ways.”

He goes on to give names to cooked meats and sets out plans for having his face printed on currency.

Movieguide® reported on Bargatze’s upcoming prime-time special last month:

Clean comedian Nate Bargatze is teaming up with CBS to host his first-ever primetime hour-long special.

The special will be a “holiday-themed variety show” that will air in December and be streamed on Paramount+.

“I’m extremely excited to be creating this special as I have long been a big fan of variety, and we don’t see enough of it,” Bargatze said of the new special. “I want to make a great show for families to gather around and watch together and I couldn’t be in better hands than with this team.”

Earlier this month, Bargatze furthered his comedic legacy by joining the National Comedy Center’s Advisory Board of Directors.

“I’ve immersed myself in the exhibits for hours each time I’ve explored the National Comedy Center in Jamestown,” Bargatze said of why he joined. “It’s the only place that truly celebrates the essence of what we do. For an artist, it’s a tribute to this thing we work so hard at, and for the average visitor, it pulls back the curtain on what elevates it to being an art. The experience is just awesome.”
