Country Singer Wants to Be ‘Good, Godly Man’ For His Newborn Son

Country singer Morgan Wallen welcomed a son, Indie Wilder, into the world on Friday and promised his baby that he would strive to be the best example of a “good, Godly man.”

“Since you came into the world Friday, I see mine differently now. It’s not just me anymore, and I’m glad it’s not,” Wallen’s Instagram caption reads with a photo of him and the newborn. “You are a gift and this tough year just made sense. I’ll be the Dad you deserve as well as the co-parent your mother deserves.”

He continued, “Since you were born, I know that every decision I make will be with you in mind. I promise I’ll always protect you, and do my best to be an example of a good, godly man just like my daddy was for me.”

“I’m ready for whatever God has planned for me and my little guy,” wrote Wallen.

Although he admitted being a little scared, he said being a father is the coolest feeling and that his son is healthy and happy.

Wallen doesn’t talk much about his faith. However, he did speak on it after the Borderline Bar & Grill shooting in Thousand Oaks, California, in 2018.

The singer talked to Taste of Country after the tragedy and said, “I don’t have any answers, but in my personal opinion, I’m a person that has faith and I believe that a lot of people have neglected God.

“We don’t put the Ten Commandments in school anymore. We just neglect everything and people act like the Ten Commandments is something so terrible. I mean, it’s a way to live. I think we all could agree on what they say.”

“I believe in God,” he said. “I believe that He’s real and I believe He has control over a lot of things and I think throughout history there have been a lot of countries that have turned their back on Him and the result is not great. Hopefully, we can get something figured out.”

Wallen was first introduced to the world on the singing competition show THE VOICE in 2014 where he was on Team Usher and Team Adam Levine before being eliminated in the playoff rounds, Country Daily reports.

He is the son of a Southern Baptist preacher, and before the THE VOICE, he only sang in church.
