Country Star Keeps God First as Career Takes Off

Up-and-coming country star Tucker Wetmore relies on his faith and God’s plan for his life as his career takes off.

“I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for faith,” Wetmore told Fox News. “Spiritually and musically and my faith that I have within my work and in the music and stuff. I pray every single day for just like random stuff.”

He was also vulnerable about the temptations that come with being in the spotlight but said whenever he fails, he turns right back to God.

“It’s hard in the line of work that I do to not slip up and not kind of fall off a little bit. And I catch myself and I do that, and then I lean on my people and like, ‘Hey, I’m struggling really bad right now,’ and stuff like that.’ But then He always keeps me centered. He always brings me right back and be like, ‘No, this is the path that I have for you.’ And I’ve never doubted that.”

He added, “But it is tough. It is tough at times. And I would be lying if I said it wasn’t. But then I sit back, and I’m like, ‘No, this is it. This is His path for me.’ And I just got to sit back and trust and listen.”

Along with his faith, Wetmore credits his mom for his country music career. While working in a coffee shop and feeling confused about what direction to go, he talked to his mom.

“I sat my mom down, and I was like, ‘Mom, I’m so lost right now. I don’t know what I’m doing with my life,'” he recalled telling her. “I was like, ‘I had so much purpose, and now I’m doing nothing.’ She was like, ‘Go sit in front of your piano, go play guitar.’ And she was like, ‘That was your therapy. You know, when you were 11, you were going through a bunch of stuff family-wise.'”

Her encouragement inspired him to pick up music again and move to Nashville in 2020. Today, he is following his dreams and trusting God along the way.

The 24-year-old just released his first album titled Waves on a Sunset.

“I did it with my friends and I’m very proud of all the songs for sure,” he said of the EP. “I’m proud of my team and all the writers…it was really just me and a bunch of buddies making music and that’s what I want it to be forever. It was just really cool.”

He’s also headlining his first tour this October and November.

“GUYS I’M GOING ON MY FIRST HEADLINE TOUR!! Can’t believe I kept the secret this long,” he announced on Instagram. “This has been an absolute dream of mine for so long and you guys are making it all possible. Also bringing out some of my friends @hannahmmcfarland @eli.winders @ashlandcraft. God is so good.”
