Country Star Craig Morgan Wants Americans to Know This About Freedom

Country singer Craig Morgan believes that some people take American freedom for granted.

The Army veteran turned country singer shared his thoughts in a discussion with Fox News Digital.

“I see it on TV,” Morgan said. “I see things that people are doing that just make me shake my head in a lack of understanding how they can’t appreciate how fortunate we are. I think a lot of that is attributed to a lack of education.”

Morgan expressed that he’s not putting anyone down, but the reality that people don’t appreciate our freedom disappoints him.

“I’m not calling anybody stupid. I’m just saying there’s some ignorance in the world, in our society, in particular in the states where people don’t understand the importance of the freedoms that we celebrate,” he said.

Morgan also addressed the protests that are happening on college campuses due to the Israel and Palestine conflict, and how many students are using “anti-American rhetoric” in response.

“I see these young folks out there that are doing things, and I just don’t — I’m dumbfounded by it,” he said. “I can’t understand. But, at the same time, I do. And I attribute it again to ignorance. I see these young folks out here in colleges doing things, and they don’t even know half of what they’re saying. If they would just slow down — educate themselves. And I don’t mean through the collegiate system, I mean in life. Go visit some of these other countries. And they would understand how free and how fortunate we are to be in this great nation.”

Morgan also expressed his gratitude to have been able to serve in the military and see first-hand how fortunate we are.

“I’ve had that honor and that privilege, most of which I attribute to my time in service in the United States Army,” he said. “And now I can say honestly that things that I’ve got to do in the music industry have allowed me to have a different perspective on how fortunate we are in this country.”

Morgan showed his love for his country last year by reenlisting in the U.S. Army Reserve.

“Like me as a touring artist, I’ll still be able to live my life and tour and do all the things that I do,” he explained. “But I also want to encourage this younger generation that the Army offers you something you cannot get in any other occupation.”

“You’re going to receive training that you cannot receive in the civilian populace,” Morgan added. “And I think it sets you up for nothing but success for the rest of your life.”

Along with serving in the Reserve, the singer keeps up with his music career and was recently named one of “Country Music’s 5 Most Patriotic Singers” by American Songwriter.

“Craig Morgan was in the army for nearly 20 years, reenlisted in the Army Reserves on stage at the Grand Ole Opry, released a collaborative album to commemorate his reenlistment and wrote a book, ‘God, Family, Country,’ that just went to paperback,” American Songwriter reported.

“For me, it’s about God and family and country,” Morgan said. “I am so blessed, and I recognize the blessings of the freedoms we celebrate in this nation.”

Movieguide® previously reported on Morgan:

Country star Craig Morgan says his military service feels “more natural” to him than his work in the music industry.

“People often ask me how I transitioned from being in the United States Army for so long to the music industry, and I tell them I’ve been working on it. I’m still working on it,” he told Fox News.

“In 1989, the singer-songwriter enlisted in the United States Army and served almost 10 years of active duty in the 101st and 82nd Airborne Divisions before joining the Army Reserve as his music career began to take off. Morgan continued to serve in the reserves for another seven and half years until he decided to commit himself entirely to music,” Fox News reported.

Morgan recently reenlisted in the Army Reserve last summer.

“That for me is more natural than the country music singer thing,” he said of the decision. “Going back and doing those types of things was very natural for me. It’s in my DNA. It’s a part of who I am — wanting to help other people.”
