Danica McKellar Calls Move from LA to Tennessee a ‘Total…Improvement’

Danica McKellar, Great American Family actress and former THE WONDER YEARS star, called her move from Los Angeles to Tennessee “a total quality of life improvement.”

“Tennessee is a total quality of life improvement. It’s gorgeous. I love the seasons. I grew up in Southern California, and I love LA, and I love California. But I have to say, the seasons are really something else. I love watching the leaves change colors, and I love it when it gets cold. And I love when it’s really hot, humid,” she told Fox News.

“My husband and I have been wanting more nature for a long time,” McKellar told PEOPLE shortly after her move. “We were kind of ready to not be in a city anymore.”

“I am just loving the fact that my Christmas movie characters have rubbed off on me,” she explained, referencing how many of the characters she plays on screen move from the big city to a small town. ”I think it’s just a wonderful example of life imitating art.”

Moving to Tennessee isn’t the only major life change for McKellar. The actress recently became a Christian.

“I would not say I’ve embraced religion so much as relationship,” she explained. “I’ve found my faith, and it’s been an amazing life changer. I have this sense that everything’s going to be fine in a way that I never really had before.”

McKellar credits her journey to faith to her friend Candace Cameron Bure and her father.

“It all started one evening when I was struggling with the idea of forgiveness and DM’d my good friend @candacecbure about a passage from the Bible she had [wrote] on her insta-stories, and then she sent me a Bible and invited me to church,” she said.

“I am so grateful to Candace Cameron Bure for bringing me into this era of my life,” McKellar added. “She really had a lot to do with it. Also, my dad. He’s been a believer for a long time. It’s just been a beautiful, beautiful gift, and it feels so good, and I want everyone to have that feeling.”

McKellar previously thanked Bure for encouraging her to invest in her faith. Movieguide® reported:
