Danny Gokey: ‘God Has Changed And Shaped Me’
By Movieguide® Contributor
Christian artist Danny Gokey is sharing an important message about God’s glory and how it works in our lives.
“Your relationship with God will never be a mimic of someone else’s relationship. Here’s why: because your relationship is a real interaction you have with Jesus,” he said in an Instagram video. “The boldness of who I am today…I’ve had real encounters with this God. This God has changed me. He has shaped me. He has molded me,”
Gokey continued, “You know, we let the past go, we forget those things that are behind us, we press on towards the mark. Towards Christ, right? To know Him is the goal. You’ll notice, as you get to know your master, as you get to know the savior, He’ll begin to shape you and mold you.”
“The Bible says, ‘For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.’ When we sin, the glory of God left us, meaning the glory He created us for. We each have an individual glory to be seen…God wants to restore that glory in us,” the singer explained.
Gokey elaborated on his message in the video’s caption, writing, “Do you feel like you know God and are reflecting His glory? Your relationship with God can’t be determined by anyone else’s. It is deeply personal, based on what He has brought you out of and what He is leading you to. The more you get to know Him, the more He will shape and mold you, and reveal His glory in and through you.”
“His glory is evident all around us, from creation, to those operating in their spiritual gifts,” he went on. “Prophecy is an example, but we were each created to reflect His glory in unique and beautiful ways. Get to know Him for yourself…there’s nothing like it!”
Earlier this year, Gokey released “Brave,” an EP celebrating his love for America.
“I still believe in America,” Gokey said of the project. “We’re not perfect — we’ve made our mistakes. But I still believe that God has used, and will continue to use, America to do great things. Rather than argue about our differences we can choose to agree on our one major common denominator – freedom. And freedom is worth celebrating.”
Gokey is currently on tour alongside Austin French and Natalie Layne.
In a statement about the tour’s kick-off, the singer said, “This tour is gonna be a little different from my normal tours, so if you’ve seen me in the past, come expecting something new. In addition to all of the fan favorites you know, there may be a sneak peek of some new music I’ve been working on, too.”
Movieguide® previously reported on Gokey’s “Bus Stop” initiative that will take place while he’s on tour:
Grammy-nominated artist Danny Gokey’s nonprofit Better Than I Found It is lending a hand to those in need as part of his upcoming “Stay Strong” tour.
“Doing the bus stops last spring was such an eye-opening experience,” Gokey said, referring to the giveback events he integrated into his tours. “There are so many people in need. So, we had to keep it going for the Fall tour. This time, we’re doing fewer stops with the intent of making a longer-lasting impact on the nonprofits we’re helping. I can’t wait for you to hear the inspiring stories of these founders.”
The “Bus Stops” shine a light on individuals and organizations that are helping those in their community and provide resources for people who are struggling.
