Danny Gokey: God Wants to Reveal His Glory Through Believers
By Movieguide® Contributor
Grammy award nominee Danny Gokey recently reminded his followers why their personal relationships with Jesus matter and how God reveals his glory through them.
“Do you feel like you know God and are reflecting His glory?” Gokey asked in the caption of a recent Instagram video.
“Your relationship with God can’t be determined by anyone else’s. It is deeply personal, based on what He has brought you out of, and what He is leading you to. The more you get to know Him, the more He will shape and mold you, and reveal His glory in and through you,” the caption continued.
“Your relationship is a real interaction you have with Jesus. The boldness of who I am today. I’ve had real encounters with this God. This God has changed me, He has shaped me, He has molded me,” Gokey shared.
“You know, we let the past go, we forget those things that are behind us, we press on towards the mark, towards Christ,” he continued.
The singer continued, explaining that as believers get to know Christ, the more He will shape and mold us.
“The Bible says, ‘For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.’ When we sin, the glory of God left us. Meaning, the glory that He created us for,” Gokey said.
“We each have an individual glory to be seen. Like you look at the mountains, that’s a glory, right? You look at the ocean, that’s a glory. Well, God wants to restore that glory in us and that intimate relationship,” he continued.
“You’ll see people who have gifts of prophecy, who can prophecy, who can read your mail and say, ‘The Lord is saying this.’ You’ll see the glory reinstated and revealed. And you’ll see people who just look like Jesus and they’re not like the world,” he said.
“His glory is evident all around us, from creation, to those operating in their spiritual gifts. Prophecy is an example, but we were each created to reflect His glory in unique and beautiful ways. Get to know Him for yourself…there’s nothing like it!”
Gokey recently released his newest EP “Brave,” which features songs that celebrate America.
“It is OK to love your country,” Gokey said. “As a matter of fact, you probably should love your country. Otherwise, your country won’t be very strong if the people don’t love it.”
“I started writing songs for our country…with the hope of restoring patriotism, the hope of restoring a sense of pride in our country,” he explained. “The United States of America is built on a system of freedom. And not every country has been able to have that. I want just to get a sense of pride in the people to celebrate us again.”
Movieguide® recently reported on “Brave”:
The EP features Gokey’s two original songs and his rendition of Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the U.S.A.…”
“There’s never been a country like us — and probably will never be like a country like us,” he added. “So, I wanted to just point people to the hope of our country, to the bravery of our country, to the goodness of the land.”
“I still believe in America,” Gokey told CCM magazine. “We’re not perfect—we’ve made our mistakes. But I still believe that God has used, and will continue to use, America to do great things.”
