Beloved Worship Leader Encourages Moms: You Have a ‘Calling’

By Movieguide® Contributor

Pastor and worship leader Darlene Zschech recently reminded her fans, and especially moms, to invite the Lord into their everyday moments.

She explained on the “Worship Leader” podcast that earlier in her life, she’d ask the Lord what His will was. However, she eventually realized that discovering His will often comes by living in the moment.

“How do I do today well, whether I’m pastoring or whether I’m with my children? And for me, it’s not, one day it’s this, and one day it’s this. Like the rest of you, it’s all of the things in one day,” Zschech said. “Allowing and welcoming the Holy Spirit life to lead and infuse every part of your life.”

She has a special reminder for moms in particular.

“You know, I always joke that the best things in my life have all happened with a baby on my hip. It’s never ‘One day when.’ It’s just like, well, we go together and then releasing their lives into the fullness of what God has for them,” the singer continued.

One piece of advice? “Take the pressure off yourself to be perfect at everything.”

“You know, they say you can have it all. I disagree. I think you can, but just not all at the same time. I just think we got to find our rhythms of grace for every day,” the worship leader explained. “I think it’s in Isaiah 40 where it says, you know, the Lord or the shepherd loves his sheep. This has this little line, but for those with young, He leads gently.”

“So, just if you’ve got little people in your world, you have a gift and calling right in front of you. And you can still lead and play and do all the things, but do it gently. And if people are putting pressure on you to do otherwise, you might have to find a little bit of your roar to say this is not about my calling. This is about seasons. And just do it well,” Zschech encouraged.

Last month, Zschech released Testament.

“These are 30 songs that declare the faithfulness of God, songs that are first and foremost for the worship of God,” she wrote on Instagram. “This project has the fingerprints of many many people on it…and I could not have achieved this without any of them. THANKYOU to everyone Involved.. for the glory of God.”

She’s released songs like “Shout to the Lord,” “Kiss of Heaven,” “Change Your World,” “You Are Love,” “In Jesus Name” and “Revealing Jesus.”

But despite her successful career, though, Zschech’s mission stays the same: “First and foremost I am a woman who simply and wholeheartedly loves Christ, and serves Him through loving my family, serving the church, and speaking up for those who cannot speak for themselves.”
