Former MLB Star Darryl Strawberry Grateful for God’s Grace After Heart Attack

Former Major League Baseball player Darryl Strawberry is grateful for God’s grace after recently suffering a heart attack.
“I think about having my situation, having a massive heart attack—walking around five days, having a heart attack and not even knowing—getting in the hospital at 40 percent. The doctor said, ‘I don’t know how you’re alive,’ but I’m thinking, ‘Nobody but Jesus,'” he said on Sports Spectrum’s podcast.

Former professional baseball player Darryl Strawberry is asking for prayers after he suffered a heart attack on his 62nd birthday.
“Praising God for His amazing grace and loving mercy in saving my life this evening from a heart attack. I am so happy and honored to report that all is well,” he shared on Instagram.
He knows that he’s alive right now only because of God’s grace.
“You know, that’s what he hung on the cross for, you know, to shed his blood for us,” Strawberry continued. “That we would experience this life. This abundant life, you know, because of that, because of his love for us on the cross. He wasn’t hanging on that cross just for nothing. He was hanging on that cross for everything.”
“This is part of it, too, because that’s what he talks about when he extends that grace. This is grace,” the former MLB star concluded. “You know, he talks about, ‘My grace is sufficient for you. My strength is made perfect in weakness.’ He’s talking about, ‘I’m made perfect in your weakness.’ When I was weak, going through what I was going through, he was strong. His strength was perfect in the midst of it.”

After the heart attack, Strawberry returned to the pulpit, where he delivered a message full of hope.
“In order to achieve victory with Christ in your life, you must be willing to do the work,” he shared on his Instagram. “It is not enough to simply have faith and hope for the best. You must actively pursue righteousness, love, and obedience. You must strive to align your thoughts, words, and actions with the teachings of Christ. Victory is available so roll up your sleeves, embrace the challenges, and trust in God’s grace to guide you on the path to victory. Blessings.”

Strawberry recently shared an update on his condition.
“During my first doctor’s appointment, my physician delivered some incredibly positive news,” he wrote on Instagram. “He assured both my wife and me that I am growing stronger and progressing in the right direction. His happiness and satisfaction with my overall progress were evident. This uplifting news has filled us with hope and optimism for the future. Thanks to everyone for your kindness and prayers for us!”
Strawberry continued, “It was the most amazing report. The doctor said that I am headed in the right direction. That I am getting stronger, that life is going to be great for us. I just have to continue to do the right things.”
