David A.R. White Talks ‘Perfect Timing’ of GOD’S NOT DEAD: RISE UP

Director and actor David A.R. White recently discussed the upcoming installation to PureFlix’s iconic  GOD’S NOT DEAD franchise, GOD’S NOT DEAD: RISE UP.

The co-founder of the faith-based movie and streaming company revealed that the upcoming movie is a timely fifth movie in the franchise, and need in today’s culture of uncertainty.

“Every time we do a ‘God’s Not Dead,’ we kind of go into it thinking, ‘This is the last one,’ and we never know if we’re gonna do another one,” the NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE actor told Faithwire in a recent interview. “We’re constantly surprised and humbled for the … amount of people who respond to these movies.”

“Each one has come out … at a time when our culture needed to see that message,” he added. “And … I’m honored to be part of it.”

According to PureFlix Insider, the plot reads:

When a favored incumbent suddenly suspends his candidacy for Congress, an embittered but brilliant campaign strategist is lured out of retirement and convinces Reverend Dave Hill to run for office. The race pits them both against formidable opponents from their past, each with plans to inexorably remove religion’s influence on public policy. Set against a backdrop of unprecedented political, civil and spiritual unrest, Dave struggles to answer an increasingly relevant question of our time: Is God dead in American politics?

“I think it’s going to be, once again, a perfect timing,” White continued. “A film that needs to be seen and get conversations starting about these types of issues.”

At the center of each of the GOD’S NOT DEAD movies is God, and RISE UP is no different according to White.

“[My dad] always wanted me to become an evangelist, and I had never wanted to become an evangelist,” White, who portrays Rev. Dave in the series, said. “I’ve always had a strong relationship with God since … I was very, very little.”

“The amazing thing is that the Lord … has a call on each and every one of our lives,” White said. “He gives us dreams, He puts them inside of us, and all He asks is that we just pursue Him, and we’re faithful in the process of it. And then it’s amazing to see, even despite ourselves, what He does with us and with our lives.”

White recently starred in an inspiring sports drama called NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE.

Movieguide®’s review reads:

NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE is a sports drama streaming on Pure Flix. It follows former NBA prospect Scott Beck, who’s 39 years old and works as a janitor at his former high school. Beck learns that his ex-girlfriend now owns her father’s professional basketball team, the Silver Knights, and is holding open tryouts to play professional basketball. Despite his age, Beck takes a leap of faith and tries out for the team. However, a malicious owner and fear of failure are in Beck’s way. After a series of setbacks, Beck finds himself back where he started. Or, so he thinks. Will he trust in God’s plan or his own?

NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE is a lighthearted story about faith and perseverance, with powerful scenes of prayer. The movie tells an inspiring story of God’s faithfulness, the importance of a church family, and overcoming failure, but sports fans will notice inaccuracies about the sports scenes. However, NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE is an uplifting, family-friendly story that teaches timeless truths from God’s Word Written, the Bible. MOVIEGUIDE® advises light caution for pre-teenage children for some adult themes.
