Demons and Deliverance: AMERICAN IDOL Alum Experiences the Lifesaving Power of Jesus

Jimmy Levy, a renowned Jewish Gospel singer, opened up about his rough journey of navigating the entertainment industry. Levy first rose to fame on AMERICAN IDOL in 2020.

Levy talked about the spiritual battles he faced and the lifesaving power of Jesus he experienced.

“When I was in the industry, I became very lonely, depressed, and I realized how dark it is,” Levy told Fox News Digital.

At first Levy didn’t think Satan was real but then that quickly changed for him.

“I put a stupid tattoo on my hand of the devil,” Levy said as he showed the image on his hand. “I started hanging out around people that would proclaim themselves as worshipers of the devil. And I just — I didn’t understand what I was getting myself into.”

From then on Levy started to notice negative consequences from his choices.

“That’s when I started getting tormented at night by demons. There were times because I was smoking — I was doing a lot of things that were affecting my voice. And I couldn’t even sing at some point. I started really getting attacked constantly, constantly. And I realized that Satan was real,” he said.

When this happened, Levy would reach out to his friend Nick, who is a leader for an online Christian ministry.

“He would always call me in the beginning and then through my career, all the times he saw me post some dark images or Satanist-looking things and he’d be like, ‘Jimmy, I want to tell you about Jesus.’ And I’d be like, ‘I don’t want to hear this. I’m Jewish. Goodbye,'” Levy said while laughing.

“What may have appeared as a smile on my face in many photos and at public appearances, was really an empty void that I would fill with drugs, alcohol, partying and hanging out with the wrong crowd. I completely rejected God and anything that had to do with Christianity my entire life, because of both how I was raised and my lingering childhood trauma,” Levy said.

“Nothing I did externally, could fill this intangible void. The attention and endless opportunities weren’t enough. The connections at the time weren’t helping, I continued to find myself sinking in this endless abyss with no end in sight! In my darkest of times, I started to realized how real the spiritual realm was and how much the darkness on this firmament has blinded the masses from seeking God and breaking from their own bondage.”

However, through his friend’s persistence, Levy found God.

“I was just an artist, so – now I see from my perspective how all of these artists in the industry – they know not what they do, you know, and God forgives them for that. But like there’s some point where God gives you the eyes to see and you have a chance to turn from the past of the agendas that you’re promoting… if you’re given the eyes to see it, you have to deny that money. You have to deny that world. You have to deny the fame, everything, and just do what’s right for God, for freedom, for America,” Levy said.

James Lasher of Charisma Media reported,As he embarks on this new chapter of his life, the gospel singer is determined to use his musical gifts to glorify God and inspire positive change within the culture. For Levy, the time has come to prioritize the spiritual realm and faithfully follow the path that God has set before him.”

Lasher continued, “The transformation Levy experienced echoes the words of Romans 10:9: ‘If you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.’ His journey of redemption and forgiveness aligns with 1 John 1:9: ‘If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.’”

Now Levy strives to put God first in every area of his life, especially through his music. Levy just dropped a single titled, “Amen” and is currently working on a worship album.

“So that was all cool and it inspired people at that time. But now it’s time for God,” Levy expressed. We fought it and you know, at the end God prevailed through it and an awakening happened… But now it’s time for the spiritual realm.”
