DANCING WITH THE STARS judge Derek Hough is hoping his wife Hayley Erbert will rejoin his dance tour following her emergency surgery late last year.
“There’s a possibility, there really is,” Hough told E! News. “And we actually met dancing on stage on tour. Our first kiss was on stage on tour. We were touring last year for the first time as a married couple and now this, going back out, there’s a completely different meaning and tension.”
“Because if there’s a moment where she’s with us and joining us on stage, it’s going to be unbelievably special,” he added. “I don’t know even know how I’m going to get through it. I’m an emotional guy.”
Last December, Erbert underwent an emergency craniotomy. Movieguide® previously reported:
Dancer and choreographer Derek Hough has asked for prayers for his wife, Hayley Erbert, as she undergoes surgery to replace a large part of her skull.
“She is going in for surgery this morning to replace a large portion of her skull that was removed during her craniectomy,” Hough posted on his Instagram story, per Fox News. He asked fans to “keep her in your prayers.”
Erbert went to the hospital earlier this month.
“At the end of last night’s tour performance in Washington D.C., my wife, Hayley, because disoriented and was taken to the hospital. She was diagnosed with a cranial hematoma from a burst blood vessel and required an emergency craniectomy. She is in stable condition,” Hough wrote on Dec. 7.
Now, several months after initially postponing his Symphony of Dance tour due to his wife’s illness, Hough will hit the road again in Tampa, Florida, on April 16.
While it’s not confirmed when Erbert will join him, she is recovering, and Hough recently shared a video of her stretching.
Hough captioned the video, “Today is a good day ❤️”
Many fans shared their support for the couple in the comments.
“I work in an ICU and it’s so nice to see this side of neuro recovery!!! Amazing,” one follower commented.
“Wow I’m so very proud of your wife getting out there and trying to be the best version of herself and to have such an amazing husband supporter walking with her on this healing journey,” another person wrote.
Continue to pray for Hough and Erbert as they continue through the recovery process.
