‘Man of Faith’: Diamondbacks Pitcher Brandon Pfaadt Secures World Series Game
By Movieguide® Contributor
Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Brandon Pfaadt relied on his faith as he helped his team make it to the World Series.
Before the NLCS Game 7, Pfaadt was seen with what many thought was a Bible.
News Anchor at WISH-TV Phil Sanchez shared on his X page, “Full disclosure— I was rooting for the Phillies (Harper fan), but hat tip to Diamondbacks pitcher Brandon Pfaadt who read the Bible moments before taking the mound for a winner-take-all Game 7.”

While it ended up actually being the scouting report and not his Bible, Pfaadt declared, “I am a man of faith.”
In an interview with a Kentucky radio station, Pfaadt described how he handles the pressures of big moments.
“It weighs on me,” he said. “There’s a lot of anxiety coming up to this moment. But I think you gotta keep working hard no matter what, and then whatever happens. God has a plan, so just keep working hard every single day, and hopefully, your dream will come true.”
Pfaadt “attended Trinity High School, a Catholic all-boys school located in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Louisville. He then played college baseball at the private Catholic school, Bellarmine University, also in Louisville,” Fox News Digital reported.
“He pitched to a measly 5.72 ERA in the regular season but has done what nobody expected this postseason. He allowed three earned runs in just 2.2 innings of Wild Card Series work against the Milwaukee Brewers, but in two starts since then (against the Los Angeles Dodgers and Philadelphia Phillies), he hasn’t allowed a run in 10.0 innings,” Fox News Digital added.
The Arizona Diamondbacks secured a Game 7 win and their place in the 2023 World Series.
“One of the most remarkable displays of Pfaadt’s resilience was in Philadelphia, facing a raucous crowd while delivering a four-inning, two-run ball performance. In the post-game interview, he attributed his undeterred focus and stress-free attitude to his faith, emphasizing that he thrived despite the challenging environment,” Christian Headlines wrote.
