Warner Bros. Picture Animation has confirmed a March 2028 release date for a new Dr. Suess film.
Dr. Suess’ book “Oh, The Places You’ll Go’ will get a big screen treatment, directed by Jon M. Chu, whose other projects include IN THE HEIGHTS, CRAZY RICH ASIANS and WICKED.
Deadline says it will be a “globetrotting animated” musical following “a young adventurer as they journey the joys and heartaches and the peaks and the valleys of life.”

“Jon M. Chu is one of the most creative directors in the industry and we look forward to working collaboratively with Jon to capture the emotional and resonating messages found in OH, THE PLACES YOU’LL GO!” said Susan Brandt, president of Dr. Suess Enterprises, when the movie was first announced in 2021. “We’re thrilled to bring this beloved story to screen for fans with Mr. Chu and the teams at Bad Robot and Warner Animation Group.”
Along with Chu, Jill Culton will also direct. Rob Lieber wrote the screenplay, and J.J. Abrams will produce under his Bad Robot banner along with Gregg Taylor, Variety reported.
Chu celebrated the March 17, 2028, release date in an Instagram Story.
“Oh, what a team for my first animated movie. Coming ’28,” he wrote, tagging his colleagues.
He previously shared his excitement for the project.
“Couldn’t be more excited to go on this adventure,” Chu said in another Instagram post back in November 2021. “My journey from falling in love with animation as a kid to being able to direct a feature length musical of such an iconic title is truly emblematic of “Oh the Places you’ll Go”. Don’t stop dreaming folks!!!”
