DUCK DYNASTY Star Prays for Those Affected by Hurricane Helene: ‘Have Mercy’

The Robertsons are sharing their experiences being caught in Hurricane Helene, as well as a prayer for all those impacted by the devastating storm.

Al Robertson was one of the many caught in the hurricane’s path, as he and family members had traveled to North Carolina for a planned event.

“There was just the perfect storm, and I say that in a negative way,” he explained on an episode of the “Unashamed” podcast.

Al described hearing the storm rage around them, saying, “You’re just praying, you know, ‘Spare us.’ And then you start praying about the people down lower [on the mountain]…Areas like this, whenever the ground gives way, everything goes to the bottom.”

“We got out the next morning to try and check on the cousins, and it was a war zone,” he continued.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, thousands were left without power or running water. Entire towns were washed away in the floods, and many were stranded, as floodwaters had destroyed roads leading in and out of towns.

“We [were] trapped,” Al recalled. “We cannot leave the area. We have no phones, we have no electricity. We don’t even have a place to stay.”

Thankfully, they were able to make their way home, but thousands of other people were not so lucky.

NBC reported on the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene: “At least 202 people are known to have died as a result of the destruction wrought by Hurricane Helene since it made landfall in Florida a week ago. More than half of the deaths were in North Carolina, where entire communities were destroyed by several feet of fast-moving water. Hundreds are still missing and officials have reported difficulties in identifying some of the dead.”

The Robertsons shared information about organizations that are providing aid for those affected by the storm, including Swannanoa Church, One Kingdom and Samaritan’s Purse.

The National Guard has also been sent to the area, conducting search-and-rescue missions, clearing roads and transporting supplies.

“Our priority has been to rapidly deploy to the affected areas and assist emergency responders with rescue operations,” Maj. Gen. Warner Ross, Tennessee’s adjutant general, said in a statement. “We are working with local emergency management agencies through TEMA by providing forces and support wherever needed. Our Guardsmen are prepared to help with relief efforts for as long as we are needed to ensure the safety of our fellow Tennesseans.”

Phil Robertson then shared a prayer for the victims of Hurricane Helene.

“Father, many have been caught up in there and lost their lives,” he prayed. “We just pray, Father, that You’d have mercy on us all…Help us, Father, keep our faith in You and Your greatness, and we thank You for hearing our plea.”

He continued, “We love You in spite of all this. We know it’s not Your doing. It’s just the way it is. So help us go through this, Father. Help us to love You and love each other, because this is a great test of whether we love one another or not. We love you. In the name of Jesus, amen.”

Movieguide® previously reported on efforts made to help those affected by Hurricane Helene:

SPY KIDS actress Alexa PenaVega is reminding everyone of the power of prayer in the wake of Hurricane Helene.

“Today we got on a call with the Salvation Army team, and we were trying to find out ways that people can help with everything hurricane relief related. I know a lot of people have family members who are affected. It’s just hit so many different people,” she explained on her Instagram story on Monday.

“There’s still a number of areas that are actually unreachable where they can’t even get to it yet ‘cause the conditions are still really dangerous,” she continued. “The media is covering it but not nearly what it should be. Kind of like what happened in Lahaina, and I don’t want these people to get left behind.”

She urged her followers to donate to helpsalvationarmy.org and reassured them that “100%” of donations would go directly to disaster relief.

“Outside of donations, outside of volunteering, I wanted to talk about the power of prayer,” she continued. “I know it might seem like such a casual thing. It’s a word that gets thrown a whole whole lot, but truly coming from experiencing great loss, prayer is powerful, and it really helped our family, and we felt all your prayers. So right now, if you can just be praying for the people who’ve experienced this devastation, the volunteers who are going in there, helping people, just creating new opportunity for these families who have lost everything.”

“Just continue to lift them up and not just now but a month from now when people aren’t really talking about it. They’re still going to be going through restoration. They’re still going to be picking up all these pieces,” she said.
