DUCK DYNASTY star Jase Robertson’s oldest child, Reed, discussed his faith journey and how he came to have the personal relationship with the Lord that’s at the center of his life.

“I was baptized when I was 12, and from that point, I thought, ‘Well, I got it,’ you know. And I just rode on your coattails for as long as I could remember,” he said to his dad. “And it was like, well, I’m going to this and I’m doing this and speaking and I’m singing and I’m doing all this stuff and it was like, well, I’ve got this figured out, you know. That’s box is checked.”

Even after he got married and moved to Tennessee, Reed continued to have a lukewarm faith that was void of any conviction or true reliance on the Lord. It wasn’t until he had his first child that he reevaluated how he was living his life and decided to fully give himself up to God.

“Reed, the eldest of Jase and Missy Robertson’s three children, married his high school sweetheart Brighton in 2016 during a ceremony surrounded by friends and family,” Country Music Family reported. Five years later, they welcomed their first child.

“When we had Merris, it was the first time in a long time that I realized, I thought, ‘Okay, this is all of a sudden way bigger than just me.’ And I started to realize like, okay, I’m doing whatever I want to do that makes me comfortable…I just took a hard look [at my life] and thought, ‘You know, I’ve relied completely on myself for the last few years here.’ It convicted me,” Reed said.

“I think the Lord convicted me and said, ‘You know, you think you’re going to be a leader of a household and [you have] this gift of a child that I’ve given you.’ And that’s really the core concept that we strive to produce in our lives every day is that our children are a gift from God and it’s our job on earth to steward their souls for the kingdom,” Reed continued. “And so one of our main principles is to have them realize, almost to force them to realize as they get older their need for a savior.”

The main way Reed and his wife, Brighton, foster this growth is through family Bible studies that they conduct every night so their children grow up with the word ingrained in their hearts.

“We call it family worship and we are passionate about it,” he said. “We do it every night with the kids. You know, we do dinner and then they do the bath…and we go through [the Bible]. Now, they’re too young to really go through any real scripture, you know, but we try to make it fun. We’ve got these little things where I say half the sentence and [my kids] answer it, you know… and we memorize, you know, a Psalm or something like that.”

Reed and Brighton welcome their third child, daughter Frances Claudia, in August.

“Baby GIRL Frances Claudia arrived peacefully at 6:48am Friday morning weighing 8lbs 3oz? Praising the Lord for this precious miracle ✨,” the couple posted. They also share daughter Merris Carroway and son David Silas.
