EIGHT IS ENOUGH star Adam Rich died on Jan. 7, 2023, in Los Angeles.
While he largely stepped away from the spotlight, Rich’s fans have never forgotten him.
Rich started playing Nicholas Bradford in EIGHT IS ENOUGH when he was just 8 years old. He continued acting throughout the 1970s and ’80s.
“Adam really had no ego. He didn’t care about being famous,” Rich’s publicist, Danny Deraney shared. “He really loved the craft of acting. He loved to write. Being famous was not even, I think, an item that he cared about. He just loved doing what he did, and he was really proud of that.”
Deraney continued, “He was always someone who would put other people ahead of himself and ahead of his own needs. That’s just the way he was. He was really one of the good guys, despite the addictions he had from the past.”
Rich was arrested for driving under the influence in 2002 and attended rehab multiple times. His cause of death has not been released, but Deraney revealed he struggled with depression and had been feeling down in the last few weeks.
“He was sober,” Deraney emphasized. “He fought really hard in overcoming and succeeding in some of those cases. He still was just a super mensch, super guy, superhuman. He was always looking out for you, and he treated you like you were the famous person or you were the one who deserves the notoriety.”
Deraney also spoke about Rich’s love for the fans, saying he was always “surprised” that people recognized him and wanted to take photos.
“I just hope he knows he was loved by so many people,” he concluded.
William Eames, one of Rich’s EIGHT IS ENOUGH costars, also released a statement about Rich’s death.
“Adam was more than a colleague. He was very much my only little brother. A lifelong friend,” Eames shared.
Please pray for Rich’s family during this time.
