Elon Musk Plans to Reverse Donald Trump’s Twitter’s Ban

After Elon Musk’s $44 billion bid to purchase social media company Twitter, the Tesla CEO said he would pursue a reversal of the ban on former President Donald Trump.
Musk called the previous social media ban on Trump a “morally bad decision.” Facebook, Twitter and Instagram banned the then U.S. president after the Jan. 6 Capitol Hill riots.
“I think perma-bans fundamentally undermine trust in Twitter as a town square where everyone can voice their opinion,” Musk said. “If there are tweets that are wrong and bad, those should either be deleted or made invisible.”
Musk vowed to establish Twitter as a free speech online platform should his purchase of the company succeed.
Former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey agreed with Musk’s proposition, calling his previous support of the ban a mistake.
“As I’ve said before, I don’t believe any permanent ban (with the exception of illegal activity) is right, or should be possible. This is why we need a protocol that’s resilient to the layers above,” Dorsey said in a Tweet.

Elon Musk is set to buy out Twitter after, moving the company from a publicly traded entity to privately held. The announcement comes after Musk bought a controlling share in the company in early April. Musk cites the First Amendment of the right to free speech as his reasoning.
