Emily Maynard Johnson Celebrates Son With Down Syndrome

Former BACHELORETTE star Emily Maynard Johnson celebrated her youngest child in a new Instagram post.

“I’m so happy I didn’t stop at five,” she wrote under a photo of her and son Jones, 11 months. “I love you all the way to heaven Jones West.”

Johnson and husband Tyler also share Ricki, 18, Jennings, 8, Gibson, 6, Gatlin, 5 and Nola Belle, 2.

Johnson has previously spoken about Jones, who was born with Down syndrome and a congenital colon abnormality.

“I am so grateful,” she told People. “He’s the easiest baby, and he’s just been our biggest blessing. I’m still learning about Down syndrome, but I’m trying to also just experience Jones as Jones and not as different than any of the other kids.”

She continued, “Looking back on my life, a lot of things happened that I wouldn’t have planned, but I wouldn’t change my life for anything. And I wouldn’t trade Jones for any baby in the world.”

In an Instagram post announcing Jones’ birth and diagnosis, Johnson wrote, “While it was certainly a surprise, we have so much peace in God’s perfect plan and know Jones is going to be a blessing to our family.”

Movieguide® previously reported on how Johnson has been handling Jones’ diagnosis:

Johnson recently appeared on GOOD MORNING AMERICA, where she gave fans an update on how Jones is doing.

In an Instagram caption, she wrote, “While some days it still doesn’t feel real, I’m choosing to see the joy in every moment. Thank you to the Down Syndrome community for covering me in so much love the past week, your stories have given me so much hope for family.”

“I may not know why this is part of our story, but just like everything else, I know without a doubt that God keeps His promises and will see so much beauty through our perfect Jones,” she concluded.
