Erin Krakow: ‘Just Something Special’ About WHEN CALLS THE HEART

WHEN CALLS THE HEART star Erin Krakow is reflecting on the “magic” of Hope Valley.
“I think there’s just always been a bit of magic in Hope Valley,” the actress told PEOPLE. “There’s something so special about our show and the energy in Jamestown [British Columbia, Canada], where we shoot.”
Krakow explained, “Things like we’ll have a scene that’s really important that we’re to film outside and it’s been pouring all day. And then miraculously, the rain just stops and we’re able to make it through.”
“I know that’s not the most romantic illustration of what makes Hope Valley magical, but I do think there’s just something special about the show and the people involved,” she continued. “When you put a bunch of special people together in one place, connections are bound to be made.”
The first episode of Season 11 of WHEN CALLS THE HEART just premiered, and fans already have a lot of questions, specifically about Elizabeth (Krakow)’s relationships with Lucas (Chris McNally) and Nathan (Kevin McGarry).
Nathan “has the potential to become [Elizabeth’s] great love,” Krakow told TVInsider. “It is a bit of a dance between them this season trying to evaluate how the other feels because they have such history that no one wants to make any assumptions. They wouldn’t want to do damage to a friendship that they worked really hard to build just on the off chance that they’re misreading.”

WHEN CALLS THE HEART’s Erin Krakow and Kevin McGarry are giving fans some hints about the upcoming season’s romance plot line.
“It’s always nice working with Kevin,” Krakow said during an interview with Entertainment Tonight.
Krakow plays Elizabeth in the popular Hallmark series. The upcoming eleventh season is going to explore her relationship with Nathan, played by McGarry.
“It’s really lovely to get to tell this story and kind of give that back to all the Kevin fans and the Nathan fans,” Krakow continued. “They’re in for a treat in Season 11.”
McGarry added, “I have always liked Elizabeth and Nathan as a couple. I think Nathan was created for Elizabeth…he was meant to kind of just wander while she was going on a journey. I think it was always meant to be this and that they were meant to be endgame.”
Krakow, who also serves as an executive producer on the show, recently reflected on WHEN CALLS THE HEART’s eleventh season.
“It feels like a very real accomplishment,” she told Southern Living. “A lot of hard work and passion and loyalty. Our network, Hallmark Channel, has been so loyal to this show and such champions of WHEN CALLS THE HEART, and I’m so grateful. It is really a unique experience and a short list of shows that make it this far.”
She continued, “It’s also been such a wonderful experience for me. I’ve met some of my best friends. I love the stories that we tell. I love the character I get to play. I love getting to work with kids and animals and you know various love interests over the years. I love that we’re telling stories of strong women who are passionate about what they do.”
