Faith-Based Actress Trusts God With Her Career

Actress Madeline Carroll is discussing her latest project, THESE STONES, as well as how her faith has guided her career.
THESE STONES is a new show from Stone Impact Media about “a young woman [who] gets drawn into a supernatural system with Bible characters working undercover to help people today,” according to the website.
“I was so blessed by it on a personal level because at the time I was going through when I read it, I really needed the help,” Carroll told Movieguide® of the show. “I needed the inspiration. I said, ‘Well, if this is helping me now, I really think that it could help girls and women and men really just sort of apply the Bible to their everyday, current lives and situations.”
The actress shared her hopes for what the audience takes away, saying that she wants people “to see how the Bible relates to their everyday, current life situations.”
“That’s how we learn the character of God — we look at the stories and the people who have gone before us and how God reacted to their situations. God’s a God of love,” Carroll explained.
The actress also spoke about the role faith has played in her life.
“I always loved God, first and foremost…I loved to go into my room and read my Bible. I loved to find myself in the word,” she said. “Personally, for me, I just loved God, and my love of God was always greater than my love for acting or movies or any of that stuff.”
Carroll recounted a time when she was offered “a million and a half” for a movie role. She said yes, but after praying over a young boy at her church, she “just knew in my heart and in my soul…I’m not meant to do this movie.”
“I wanted to be able to go up and lay hands on somebody and pray with clean hands,” she said. “I just am so thankful that God called after my heart when I was young and was so close to me because I would have made some very different decisions.”
The actress has previously spoken about how her decision to say no to nudity in future roles impacted her career. Carroll planned on giving up her acting career, praying, “God, if you’ve still called me here, and this is what you want from me, then you have to send me something. And better yet, send me something that would edify you. And that’s how I’ll know that I’m still called to be here.”
Shortly after, she got a leading role in I CAN ONLY IMAGINE.
“I don’t believe God would give you something that you wouldn’t be able to use for His glory,” she explained to CBN. “I don’t believe you have to compromise who you are as a person in order to do what God has called you to do.”
