How Faith Shaped Sadie Robertson and Christan Huff’s Relationship

Sadie Robertson Huff and Christian Huff recently celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary — let’s take a look back at the couple’s love story!
Sadie and Christian met in 2018 during a trip with friends. They exchanged Instagram handles, started messaging and went on their first date two months later.
While they were happily dating, Sadie recently revealed she had some anxiety about their relationship at the beginning.
“[I was] trying to have everything figured out from the start,” she said during an Instagram Q&A. “I think I just wanted to jump so far ahead and figure everything out. I was like, ‘How is this going to work? I live in Nashville, you’re at Auburn. You’re in college, I am not.’”
Sadie and Christian made things work, though, and got engaged the year after they met during a joint birthday celebration.
“I knew that we were getting engaged soon because I knew he had talked to my dad [Willie Robertson] and we had talked about it, but I did not know it was coming at the party,” Sadie told PEOPLE. “It was the most perfect thing ever!”
Sadie and Christian wed Nov. 25, 2019, on the Robertson family ranch. Today, the couple share two daughters, Honey and Haven.
They recently celebrated five years of marriage, with Christian writing on Instagram, “5years… good gosh I’m the luckiest person alive. Wouldn’t wanna ride through life with anyone else!”

The couple has been open about the important role faith plays in their relationship and how it drew them together.
“Everybody knows my faith is really important to me and his faith is the most important thing to him, so I think having Jesus at the center is really what makes our relationship work. And it makes it exciting because we’re equally as passionate about this hope we have,” Sadie told PEOPLE.
In an interview with Movieguide®, Christian shared that he had been looking for someone “who is very genuine, someone who’s authentic, someone who does love God more than people.”
“Whatever you want in someone, I think you should be that person,” he said. “Like if you want someone that’s genuine, you have to be genuine. If you want somebody who loves God more than the other person, then you have to be someone that loves God more than people.”
