For KING + COUNTRY Share Their Family’s Story in Upcoming Movie

Kingdom Story Company and Lionsgate announced UNSUNG HERO, a new movie that tells the inspirational true story of the family behind Christian band for KING + COUNTRY.
“When David Smallbone’s successful music company collapses, he moves his family from Down Under to the States, searching for a brighter future. With nothing more than their seven children, suitcases and their love of music, David and his pregnant wife Helen set out to rebuild their lives,” the logline reads.
“Based on a remarkable true story, Helen’s faith stands against all odds and inspires her husband and children to hold onto theirs,” the logline continues. “With their own dreams on hold, David and Helen begin to realize the musical prowess in their children, who would go on to become two of the most successful acts in Inspirational Music history: five-time Grammy Award-winning artists for KING + COUNTRY and Rebecca St. James.”
for KING + COUNTRY is comprised of brothers Joel and Luke Smallbone.
“It dawned on us about 4 years ago that this story of immigrating from Australia to America & all the adventures & challenges we’ve walked through in between was a story that needed to be told–so we made a movie,” Luke Smallbone wrote on Instagram.
“It’s our hope that this story encourages you & your family as working on this project & reflecting has encouraged ours. Looking forward to sharing it with you next year,” he added.
UNSUNG HERO stars Joel Smallbone, Daisy Betts, Kirrilee Berger, Jonathan Jackson, Lucas Black, Candace Cameron Bure, Terry O’Quinn and Hillary Scott. It is co-directed by Richard Ramsey and Joel Smallbone and is produced by Justin Tolley, Josh Walsh and Luke Smallbone.
Produced by Kingdom Story Company and distributed by Lionsgate, UNSUNG HERO is slated to release on April 26. 2024.
This will be for KING + COUNTRY’s second movie. In 2016, they produced PRICELESS, a movie about a man who fights to save the lives of two women after he inadvertently delivers them into the hands of sex traffickers.

The “God Only Knows” performers will also be featured in the upcoming movie titled UNSUNG HERO. The “family dramedy” follows the Smallbone family as they travel to America as their mother, Helen Smallbone, relies on her faith to raise nine children in a new home.

UNSUNG HERO will feature much of the same creative talent behind PRICELESS, which Ben Smallbone directed.
