Former Model Nicole Weider in Cancer Remission: ‘Praise Jesus!’
By Movieguide® Contributor
Nicole Weider is in remission from stage 4 cancer! The former model took to Instagram on Wednesday to share the miraculous news.
“Cancer update- it’s hard to even believe this and it feels surreal typing it but I am in REMISSION now from cancer!! Praise Jesus!” she began. “I had my PET scan last Friday and met with my oncologist yesterday and she said the radiologist couldn’t find any cancer on the scans!! I feel a little in disbelief. BUT she wants me to do one more chemo session (thank GOD) this Friday, but at a lesser dose.”
Because of the subtype of cancer, her response was successful, and her body responded well to treatment.
“She also said the type of cancer I have HER2+ is very responsive to all types of treatment and so she wants me to get radiation too. I haven’t been feeling that great lately because the treatments have been super hard but I’m so thankful I’m not turning a big corner in this journey. Just in time for our baby boy to be born!” Weider added.
“Just absolutely remarkable, Nicole! THAT IS THE GOD WE SERVE!!!!! Our wonder-working God!!! ?? NOTHING is too hard for Him!” one user commented.
“This is wonderful news about no cancer being found in your scans!!! ? Praise God!!!” another person said.
Movieguide® previously reported on her diagnosis last year:
The former model has openly detailed her journey on Instagram and updates her followers regularly.
Initially, Weider was told that the cancer was triple negative breast cancer, a rare subtype with a poor prognosis. But after seeking a second opinion, Weider learned it’s a different subtype with a much better prognosis.
She explained the situation in her most recent Instagram post.
“The biggest Christmas miracle in my life…and because of YOUR prayers, my families and all of ours!” she shared.
Weider previously announced on Instagram that she and her husband are expecting a baby via surrogacy.
“We are having a baby boy. We are so thankful that we have a surrogate carrying him but he’s our genetic child,” she said. “If I was pregnant, I probably would have died because I wouldn’t have been able to get chemotherapy, or my baby would have died, and so the surrogate process has been such a blessing for us.”
Weider departed from the modeling industry after giving her life to Jesus. Movieguide® previously reported:
However, a 23-year-old Weider gave her life to Christ, and the trajectory of her career and purpose changed forever.
“I gave my life to Christ when I was 23, and it was the best decision I ever made,” Weider said. “After I gave my life to God I felt a renewed sense of hope, and I felt like my dignity was back in my heart. I started journaling about my love for God and my experiences in the modeling industry, and pretty soon after I gave my life to God, He put in my heart a desire to create a website for teenage girls to share pieces of my testimony on there and to be a light to girls and to warn them about the dangers of the Hollywood industry and about the modeling industry.”
As a result, Weider released a book and a website under the same name, “Project Inspired,” to help teenage girls avoid her experiences in the industry and turn to God instead.
