Ben Troupe, former tight end for the Tennessee Titans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Oakland Raiders, joined the “Sports Spectrum Podcast” to talk about his faith journey.

“My mother has only been a Christ-filled, Jesus-loving woman my entire life,” Troupe told Sports Spectrum host Jason Romano. “My mother has always let us know who was first and foremost in her life, which became first and foremost in our life.”

He continued, “When you go to a big city and you don’t know anybody and fear is kind of keeping you from making certain decisions, when it was time for me to go to college, my mother came to me and said, ‘The Lord showed me gators in my dream,’ and that was all I needed to hear.”

Troupe went on to become “A first-team All-American tight end at Florida and a runner-up for the John Mackey Award in 2003…Troupe, a Florida-Georgia Hall of Famer, was selected 40th overall in the 2004 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans. He played five professional seasons for the Titans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Oakland Raiders,” according to his website.

Now, Troupe is a motivational speaker and author.

In his book “Uncommon and Unfinished,” Troupe “takes readers on a personal journey through the trials and tribulations that have both changed Ben and helped Ben change the world. From sunsets on the porch in small southern towns to bright stadium lights on the biggest stages in sports, this is a story of growth. Uncommon and Unfinished is a testament to Ben’s timeline.”

“Every step that Ben has taken, yards included, has been made with family and friends right alongside. This is a man who has made moves with a purpose; just now is he hitting his stride,” the description continued.

Troupe often uses his social media accounts to proclaim his faith and share his speaking engagements.

In an X post, Troupe wrote, “Today is my BDay and I am incredibly grateful and humbled that God has given me another year of life. I appreciate every moment, memory, and adversity to get to this day. Getting older is inevitable, getting old is a choice. I choose extraordinary. I cant wait for whats next.”
