UFC Hall of Famer Mark Coleman is thanking God after he was hospitalized for injuries he received when he saved his parents from a house fire last week.

CBN NEWS reported, “Coleman was awakened by his family dog, Hammer, at 4 a.m. [last] Tuesday when a fire broke out at his childhood home while visiting his parents in Toledo, Ohio. Coleman managed to get his elderly parents out of the home unharmed but went back in to save the dog.”

The dog didn’t make it, and Coleman was life-flighted after inhaling large amounts of smoke.

The UFC champ woke up in the hospital on Thursday after spending several days in the ICU.

“I am the happiest man in the world. Sweet God, I’m so lucky. I can’t believe my parents are alive,” he said in a video. “I had to make a decision because I went out of my room and got to the door and it was already horrible. I couldn’t breathe. I almost had to go outside. I went back and got [my parents], I can’t believe it. I got them, but I couldn’t find Hammer.”

The video was shared by his daughter, Kenzie.

“God is good. Miracles do happen. Our dad is breathing on his own. We want to thank you all for the love and support from the bottom of our hearts,” she wrote in the post.

His other daughter, Morgan, added, “Wow! The power of prayer and overwhelming support means everything to us. Miracles do happen! Our Dad is breathing on his own. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts and please keep praying for our Dad as he continues his recovery.”

In an Instagram post, Coleman thanked God for saving his life.

“I want to first thank my higher power above without him, this isn’t possible,” he said. “Next i want to thank each and every one of you for the prayers, support, and generosity. I always knew I had the best fans around. What you have done for me and my family is truly remarkable.”

“I also want to thank the doctors, nurses and hospital staff who saved my life. I can’t wait to take you all along with me during my recovery journey. You are all now apart of hammer house,” he continued. “I’m blessed and grateful my parents and I are walking out of this alive. I encourage you to do the things you want to do, better yourself, and cherish every moment. Tomorrow is not promised.”

In his update, Coleman also touched on his dog, Hammer.

“Also, it breaks my heart to say this but rest in peace to my special dog, Hammer,” he expressed. “If you followed me before all of this you knew he was my sidekick and bestfriend. We spent every day together and I will miss him so much.”

Pray for Coleman and his family as he continues to recover from this accident.
