Fans are encouraging Frankie Muniz to drop out of the upcoming MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE reboot after the actor shared his mental health was “at a new low.”

“If I’m being 100% honest…Mentally/emotionally I may be at a new low. Just wanted to say it out loud,” Muniz posted on X.

Fans quickly flooded his comments section with messages of encouragement, with one writing, “Just reminds you that you’re human Frankie. We all go through it. Lean on your friends and just look for the good in life. we love ya.”

Actor Dean Cain replied, “Stay strong, brother,” while YouTuber MrBeast wrote, “Been there, it will fade and make the highs feel that much better.”

Other X users recommended he drop out of the MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE project if it is negatively affecting him.

“If you want to drop out of playing Malcom drop out. You don’t owe any person any ‘fan’ or studio coming back to that role,” someone wrote. “You decide how to live your life.”

Muniz confirmed he would be part of the upcoming Disney+ MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE reboot last month, posting on X that he was watching every episode of the show to “catch up” before they began production.

“Can’t wait to get back together with my old family,” the actor added.

While some have pointed to the pressures of returning to acting as the reason for Muniz’s low mental health, others think it might be because of controversy currently surrounding one of his recent NASCAR races. Muniz started racing professionally in 2023.

Muniz was recently involved in an accident during a race at the Bristol Motor Speedway. No one was injured, but fans and fellow drivers have said Muniz’s driving skills were the reason for the accident.

“My whole life I’ve also had people talk…about me online — warranted or not or whatever. I’m used to letting it go. But it does affect you,” the actor said during an appearance on the “Beating and Banging” podcast.

Muniz added, “Sometimes I’m in my head and I have ups and downs. I still go like, ‘Man, I have this awesome opportunity as a race car driver in the Truck Series full-time. My team believes in me. I believe in them.”

Whether or not Muniz decides to step back from the MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE reboot or his NASCAR career, fans of the actor are commending him for being open and honest about his mental health.
