FRASIER Might Not Get Season 3 – Here’s Why
By Movieguide® Contributor
Paramount+ has announced it will not renew FRASIER for Season 3, meaning the revival will need to find a new home or its run will be over.
The FRASIER revival followed the return of psychiatrist Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammar) after his father passed away. Frasier moved back in with his son and soon took on a new job at Harvard University. The show tracks Frasier as he embarks on new experiences.

“The first season for every show is about finding the characters and realizing, ‘Oh, we thought this character was here, but it’s actually over there.’ Or, ‘we thought that these two had a sniping relationship, but it’s one of mutual respect,” co-showrunner Chris Harris told The Hollywood Reporter after the end of Season 2.
“Our show was not one of the few shows that came out of the gate knowing exactly what every character was, like the original FRASIER,” he continued. “But for the most part, that first season, we feel good about having found where the center of the show is. And here we got to dive in more.”
Grammer joined TODAY WITH HODA & JENNA in 2023 where he discussed the growth of his character.
“He’s got a little more wisdom about him, but he’s a little bit silly and takes certain things more seriously than most people do,” the actor said. “That’s his character. And it’s been really fun to play him again.”
Season 2 of FRASIER brought the doctor back to his home state of Seattle, where the original show was located. Ahead of its release, Harris and co-showrunner Joe Cristalli discussed possibilities for the future of the show.
“One area is that we haven’t yet taken advantage of the fact that Frasier is back in Boston, and that is where CHEERS took place,” Harris told Screenrant. “So there’s a whole group of characters. Obviously, Bebe was part of that, and Lilith, but we’d love for Frasier to run into somebody along the way at some point.”
“There’s several people that we would love, and honestly, it’s just finding the right story for some of these folks and making sure the schedules line up,” Cristalli added. “But ideally, we’ll get everyone we want from the original and CHEERS. There’s so many people we haven’t seen yet. I don’t even know if I could pick a favorite. There’s so many options.”
While the showrunners have more ideas, FRAISER’s future is uncertain. PEOPLE reported that the series will be shopped around to other networks.
