FROZEN 3 Won’t Come Out Until 2027, but It’s ‘Worth the Years of Waiting’

FROZEN 3 will come out Thanksgiving 2027, and the Disney team wants to produce something worth waiting for.

“Anything that I have seen or know I will have been sworn to secrecy on,” said Josh Gad, who plays Olaf in the movies. “Here’s what I can tell you. There’s a reason the movie is coming out in 2027. And that is because no one wants to rush this.”

“Everyone wants this to not just be a sequel or a money grab,” he said. “They want this to be absolutely worthy of the story we set out to make in 2013 [in the first FROZEN movie].”

The first FROZEN movie won a Movieguide® Teddy Bear Award® for its moral and family values.

“We want to give audiences something that is worth the years of waiting and years of anticipation,” Gad explained. “And I know that they are actively working on that. And I know that they have a story that they are very, very, very excited about.”

“And beyond that, I think I’ll have Disney lawyers knocking down my door. But buckle up because I think they have something incredible in store,” Gad said.

Disney Animation’s Chief Creative Officer, Jared Bush, recently talked about the movie at D23 Brazil.

“Yeah, yeah, FROZEN 3 is coming. And from what I’ve seen so far [of the film] I think people are going to be surprised,” he said. “I can’t give away too many spoilers, other than to say that Jennifer Lee is leading the charge and that the story and the direction that she’s taking these characters, what they’re going through, what they’re going to go through, I think it’s going to surprise a lot of people, but it’s also going to deliver on everything that people love about FROZEN.”

Director Jennifer Lee is also expected to make FROZEN 4, though that feature will be a long way off.

The first movie was a huge hit for Disney and one of the highest-grossing animated movies of all time.

Kristen Bell who plays Anna, said in 2014, “I don’t think anyone can foresee the box office — like — craziness that it hit. But I’ll tell you, when we were making it, there was a part of me that was, going, like, ‘This is really special.”

“I’ve been a part of a lot of things, but it just felt so unique and I’m so proud of it. Because it’s just — unlink anything they’ve [Disney] ever done,” she continued. “And it’s not about romantic love. It’s about believing in someone even when they don’t believe in themselves.”
